Mine came with the Losi 25 lb spring too. Currently using an Xray 07 shock with the Associated Blue spring (17.5) for asphalt racing.

A little Losi label came in the bag for the spring that confirmed "25" lb.

I am using a 33T pinion for a longer asphalt track with 2.2" rears. Sounds like you would be a similar pinion with 2.1" rears on a medium asphalt track (maybe 32T on med carpet).

Did you do anything with the timing of the Hacker 17.5? Mine remains untouched at their stock setting.

You might want to find a really small spur gear. Say around 72 tooth. It should allow you more options for the pinion size.

I have only run 13.5, and 10.5's, but I would start around a 55mm roll out, and work up from there based on temperatures. (150F is ideal). Which would be a 33 tooth pinion.

Highly recommend 48 pitch gears! they are more stout then 64P.

Shawn.

Not sure if we posted this before; but, I initially had issues with the Losi shock that came in the kit. It was not very smooth in its initial action (specifically its first 1/8" of travel).

Someone told me to clean up the flashing on the piston and things would improve. It was recommended to mount the piston on my Dremel and clean it up using fine sandpaper. That took care of it.

Regardless, I still switched to an Xray shock with Associated springs. Even though I had not used either part before.

Mine came with a 30lb. (had a 30 sticker in the bag, thought it was for the shock fluid.) Currently running a 20Lb Xray spring.

I think I am going to buy a set of the Windtunnel Barrel main springs though. I think the dual rate of the springs might be the key to good bite out of the corner, but without making the car overly soft.

Shawn.

I did get a complete set of their barrel springs some time ago; but, have not tested them yet.

Will be interested to see what you think.

got a chance to test with the 17.5 2S today.
Gearing was a real surprise.
Tried to run with the gearing I ran on with the 20T Saturn motor and it just did not feel right, so I geared down 3t on pinion and it had something but was still wrong, so went 3t the other way and it felt flat, so i decided to really drop the gearing.
So running 59mm rears, I have dropped from 28/90 to 23/100, and there i was thinking I needed to gear up for a Brushless?
Just need to see how it performs in traffic

Looks like my CRC is going to see some carpet action, new track in town.

Thanks to Joel Navarro (Radio Control Car Action Contributing Editor - www.rccaraction.com) for the video.
