Well, i've been running around in circles chasing a set-up for that for a long time now! Every time I think i'm there, it goes to custard. Mind you, we are on an unprepared track wit hno additive, so traction is quite variable.
Trying a few new things this weekend, so will post an update on Monday

And please do include the tires you are using.

That was something I was going to ask about. I have the following available:
REARS - Xceed Pink, Xceed WGT Soft, Frewer 25 Shore Silver
FRONT - Xceed Purple, Frewer Purple, Frewer Red

Not sure of the best combo. I was using the Silvers, but I was told having a wide range between fronts and rears suck as 25 shore rears and 40 fronts would make the car too unbalanced

Have tried this tyre combo with traction grease;

FRONT
purple front tires, half traction grease on them
Purple springs

BACK
Pink backtires, full traction grease on them

westy, that should be traction compound.

Traction grease is a contradiction (grease = slippery )

Also check the pod drop, this helpt allot with my crc. (thx of the advice of 2wdrive)
And check the preload of the side springs, so that there is no tweak.

The pod droop can you adjust to the track. A bumpy track you can give more poddroop and a flat track less poddroop.

Westy, how many mm poddroop have you?
I drive some like 1 a 2mm on my 10SL

What's the conventional wisdom with regards to tire diameter split front to rear? Run the same diameter f/r or smaller fronts like a 12th? If smaller, how much split?

I drive the fronts 1mm lower in diameter than the rears on a 10SL

Default weight distribution?

What is the best weight distribution for the pan car?
50/50 Front/rear? or should one end of the car be noticable heavier? and if so why? what are the benefits of it?

Traction compound would be fantastic! Probably solve a lot of my woes. However, we are not allowed to use it.
13.5, 2 Cell, outdoor asphalt large track, no traction compound
I'll take some pics next weekend to show the track, or look at it on the site below. She's a beast!

I make that main straight 250ft long ?
May be looking at a holiday your way in November (not yet confirmed), and may even look at bringing my TC (if you run a 13.5 class for them).

Theoraticly with pro10 tires you should aim towards 67% weight at the back and 33% at the front. The front tires are half te size of the rears.

for instance:
rear_weight / ( rear_weight + front_weight )

e.g.

Fronts = 450g
Rears = 650g

Distribution
= 650 / ( 650 + 450 )
= 0.59
= 59% rear (so 59/41 split)

In theory you want as much weight at the back as possible, specially in low traction conditions. (the car still has to be in ballance in the corners though)

Too much weight and you will spin going into the corners, too little and you will spin going out. (in theory)

ofcourse there is still a lot of other factors.
