there aren't any brushless motors other than the modified one's that are legal yet. Companies have submitted their 10.5, 13.5, and 17.5 motors for inclusion into those classes, just waiting on the word if they meet specs or not.

in the 2008 rule book...

8.8.4.4

Stock and Super Stock Motors: External shaft diameter must be 0.125 inches
(3.175mm). Only one piece, two pole Neodymium sintered or bonded, or Ferrite(Ceramic) magnetic rotors are permitted. The magnet length shall be 25.0 +/-1.00mm not including any non-magnetic balancing material. The magnet outside diameter shall be a minimum/maximum of 12.2-12.51 mm, no tolerances, for the entire length of the magnet. The shaft outside diameter, where the magnet is 45 mounted, shall be 7.25 +/- 0.150mm. This dimension must be measurable without destroying the rotor.

And, there will be updates on Motors and Batteries that will be legal for the race VERY soon...

Ok Tim beat me to it. I'm changing the website to state any ROAR legal 13.5. Sorry for the confusion.

brain as of the time the rule was written the Novak 17.5 should pass right out of the package. I am sure they have been submitted and are going through approval along with everyone elses. The list should start getting longer shortly.

In the morning, the ROAR website will have an announcement with body numbers that have been given a temporary expiration date of 3/31/08.

These bodies that will be listed fell outside of the Global Body Specifications and in the best interest of the ROAR membership and the Carpet Nationals to be held at HobbyPlex in March, ROAR has granted several body companies an extension to correct the failing dimensions on those bodies. These bodies will fall off the list on 3/31/08 and must be presented to the ROAR Body Committee for a complimentary reevaluation as per the GBS rules.

The GBS rules have been in place since the 2007 rule book printing and body companies have been well aware of this change. ROAR's recommendation to the membership is always keep tabs on the body approval list as bodies are given limited approval dates in many situations.

Thank you!
Dawn

Perhaps opening the tires in tech and checking them on a balancer in front of officials would help drivers weed out the really bad tires while still keeping things fair.

On the website later today:

2/6/08‐ The ROAR President, the ROAR Competition Director, the ROAR Technical Director, the Electric On Road Committee, the Body Inspection committee along with acceptance for the best interest of racing and the ROAR membership from the body manufacturing agents and in the best interest of the racing membership and the integrity of our Carpet Nationals event, has extended the expiration date of the following bodies to 3/31/08.

These bodies fall outside of the Global Body Specifications rules either by dimension testing or expiration and resubmission date, as per the rules published in 2007 and again without change in 2008. ROAR is working with the body companies regarding the GBS rules that have been in place and provided a courtesy reexamination of these bodies as they were not resubmitted as requested. ROAR has stated to these companies the bodies will fall off the approval list and will not return unless they are
resubmitted for another courtesy evaluation and for those who failed in dimension testing, the errors are corrected.
There are no plans to provide another extension for the Paved On Road Nationals as ROAR feels one year plus several months is plenty of time to comply to published rules. Also, ROAR recommends to the membership to log into the approval list on several occasions prior to an event to verify the expiration dates of bodies and other products intended for use.
Any questions regarding the GBS rules, please contact Ruben Benitez at stocktonrc@sbcglobal.net or
Tim Potter at tpotter@bellsouth.net or David Lee at leeda100@earthlink.net.

I vote for NOT legal, it sucks wasting money to paint a one run body.
