jcr,

You should be able to see in the above photo. I have used a 2mm red spacer on the front knuckle. The droop screw is approx 10-12mm long.

I will try and get a clearer photo. I thought you might ask, so re-edited my previous post.

50594 2 x 10mm droop screw

53539 aluminium spacer set

53599 fluorine coated 5mm aluminium ball connector or 53640 aluminium blue ball nut

Whats up guys. I'm looking to get into these Tamiya Mini Coopers for misc. reasons. If anyone out there is selling one please PM me. I'm looking for 2 rolling chassis (M03 or M05) with or without bodies and tires etc etc etc.

Just show me what you got in a PM. Again, M03s or M05s.

So I understand the difference from M03 & M05 is servo placement for stability.

Could someone please explain - What is so different with the M04?

M04 is rear wheel drive while M03 and M05 is front wheel drive

Default M03 tie-rod measurement

Hi guys,

I really really need to reset my old M03s steering as over the last 6 years it's been fiddled with so often (due to different wheels, tyres, dampers etc) that it is now way out of wack. I seem to remember the dimensions in the manual are 16mm between rod ends but I really need the overall length of the whole rod end to end as I have now got turnbuckles and HD rod ends and have lost the old Tamiya ones to use as a reference point .

Please can anybody help and save me from a life of eternally weaving down the straightaways and fighting the thing through the bends. It used to be such a friendly car, I think it's still not forgiven me for having a brief fling with an M05 (it ended in tears).

The suspension of the M03/05 is pretty much the same but the chassis are very different. It's not just servo placement. The main chassis rails are nothing alike.

Can't give you a measurement but a suggestion:
Put the car race ready on it's wheels and compress and release the suspension. Now look at the front wheels (with servo centered of course) and check if the wheels are parallel. Just adjust your rod length until you achieve parallel front wheels at your set ride height.

As the Mini's have soo much bump steer, the ride height has a huge influence on toe in/out. So rod length can differ quite a bit from car to car.

Does anyone know if Tamiya offers stainless steel suspension shafts for the M05? I hate the screw type shafts.
