i sure hope i can get the prov2 chassis seperate, dont wanna spend another £150 on a car when i already have all the bits


edit

with diffs in the mini, its a strange one, i have tried 7k, 100k, 100k with 2 shims, ride 45 diff putty and a spool

7k was alright, but i found it diffing out on the long sweepers and that killed time for me!
100k was great, but i ended up killing internal gears
100k with 2 shims is perfect for me, no wear on the gears, doesn't wander down the strait
ride diff putty in the stock diff was good too, but it leaked out a few times, causing havok in the gearbox and bearings
spool was okay, but under steered like a female dog, if you cant tame a spool, good luck

Okay so if you buy a M05 Chassis and convert all the 03 parts over to that
new M05 Chassis , is it still considered a M05?
Im not talking about the new Ver2 chassis, but any M05 Chassis???

It won't be just the chassis you will have to buy knowing Tamiya, you will probably find that the chassis halves are in one bag, the motor mount in another and the new arms in a third.

Also it's taken them well over a year to release the M06 style shock mounts for the M05 Gold Edition and they still don't sell the M06R rear hub weights and shock mounts even as a spare part, you have to buy the whole kit to get them.

Tamyia "R" kits always have special parts that aren't available anywhere else.


Heaven forbid you have to spend $40 on 3 parts trees to have all of the newest parts....

I'll rant instead. If your popping $40 for a few parts trees, you're shopping in the wrong place. (Sorry. Lame rant.)

EDIT: Just had a good look at the CAD image. (where does he get these things anyway?) The biggest changes that are immediately noticeable are in the front half. The upper damper mounts are a little more robust and there appears to be a spine running back from them over the gearbox. The area of the gearbox over the diff seems a little higher, backing up the body mount points.. The intermediate gear area may be raised a tiny bit. The area where the pinion is looks mildly tweaked and the steering brace mounting point above it has more material.

Of course this is all based on a CAD drawing of unknown origin, so it might be bull-puckey.

+1 I'm gonna out them in my M06. Anxious about the front C and Knuckle. Hopefully it's not as brittle material

the way i read it is only the chassis and motor mount is new (to fit square battery pacs and as 'lightweight as possible')... every thing else remains the same..

whats this talk of new arms, hubs and such?

There's been no official mention of new hubs, but Tamiya has written that the lower arms would be a one piece affair, with droop screws.

I was trying to convert to a short wheelbase and I accidentally stripped the allen head screw on the left here. I think it is the D1 piece. I can't really cut a slot into the screw with how deep it is in there. I have no idea how to go about this without butchering it. Ugggggghhhh this sucks I was just about set up before this happened.

monkeyracing,

In my opinion, you're right, the motor seems to be placed a few mm forward, so middle gear will be rised to keep mesh. I will try to buy the new chassis and arms to upgrade my m05
