Grandpa are the 1016's the same as 53254's but for TCS or are they a different compound? as i saw you mentioned "old and new sgrips" but was wondering how you tell the difference?

The 1016s are the old S-Grips, Tamiya hard foam insert, on a special rim that was not available for purchase separately. That way the tech people could tell that you were using the Spec tire. I may be wrong here, but I think these were just used in the USA and Canada. We may be getting a new series of !016s with the new rubber, which is just freaking us out. That's why I took a little driven Mini and started to play with set ups on it.

1016 was the part number for the pre-mounts that were produced up until last year. The tires (53254) somehow got a different compound about 6 months ago. So, 1016 tires were built using the same part number, but they were the old, firmer compound. If you find some, please let us know! The current S Grips are amazing for a few meets, but are less so once the tread begins to wear.
The way to tell the difference is that the old ones feel like they should and the new ones feel as if they're made from gummy bears. New ones also come in the red/white/blue plastic bag. I hope they fix this soon.

So are they still allowing non-premount wheel/tires at TCS or are 1028 and 1029 only choices?

the only reason i ask is we have the AOC event coming up and most likely plan to use s grips on the front, being run on crc carpet was thinking the older hard walls may be more suited

I have an M06. Is there an adjustable upgrade turnbuckle set to make it easier to adjust front toe. Currently, mine has the threaded rod, which came with the kit, and you have unsnap one end to adjust it. I think it would be the same for the M05. Thanks.

You're probably right. The new S-Grips softer sidewall just can't be an advantage, especially on carpet or other hi-grip surfaces. The new ones are easily a second slower where I race on the same car. Plus, the car became very uncomfortable to drive.

Be happy we don't have to deal with this! The picture is just a corner of a setup sheet for an F1 car from 2012.
Perhaps then I should hold onto my S grips in cardboard packaging then, if they are better than the new plastic packaged ones.
I have always found on carpet the M grips a better tyre than the S grip. Perhaps that just comes back to my driving style.

What about the m-grips? Did they change the compound on them?

Has anyone tried fitting a JCW coupe on a M03 chassis? Just wondering how well it fits.

It fits with no problems. Be sure to reinforce the front splitter cause if you bend it the handling goes away. The wing is a little tricky, just don't leave out the reinforcement pieces.
