Default 6 Hueres du Tynaarlo

Today was the last race of our indoor track , The 6 Hueres Du Tynaarlo

This was an M chassis race with a handout 28 turn Ansmann motor , limited to 10 drivers as the drivers stand is not big enough for more

The race started with a 10 minuite qualification shoot out fastest 1 lap over the 10 mins would give your grid position , drivers position on the drivers stand and placing of your pit box in pit lane ,

Then the race director pulled a suprise out of the hat by reversing the grid , we qualified 2nd (putting us starting 9th)

Off we went and from the start we had problems , when i had rebuilt the car we decided to fit some harder rear springs but with the new M Grips on these were not working and the car was very hard to drive consistantly .

So next battery stop we changed the rear springs and lost about 5 minuites , this put us off the pace with the leaders .

Then disaster stuck at around the 2 hrs mark the gearbox went , this was speedily replaced by me in around 15mins but we were well of the leading 4 , around 100 laps down , so on went our best driver Cees , he was lapping consistantly 1 second a lap quicker then the leaders .

For 2 hours all was well pulling laps in on the leaders climbing the leader board to 3rd for about half an hour , then after a pitstop and driver change the gearbox was noisy again .

We had around one and a half hours to go so decided to leave it in there and continue as we had no reserve , this went on for about an hour before the noise was REALLY loud

we contiued at a slower pace nursing the car home , but the noise was getting worse with every lap , BUT finally the finish was within sight , 1 minute ..........

30 seconds and we crossed the timing line , 1 more lap PLEASE , no 2 more , GET IN we finished , the poor little M05 rolled into the pits , i picked it up turned it off and spun the front wheels only to see the motor not turning , the gearbox had gone totally , i have no idea how it kept driving but it did , after removing the motor for a quick look there is no teeth left on the spur gear

we finished 5th overall even beaten by my girlfriends team

WOW what a day , i am knackered and off to bed

pictures and video including on board to follow

Who finished the race driving the car after having pushed her team mates for the previous 6 hours saying we had to beat you! hahahaha
Very cool event and hope the 'on car' camera has produced some nice pictures/movies!!

The Venom green parts are available now. The motor and speedy will be available in the next week or so.
They are the same as the Hobbywing combo we use over here in Australia .

The green is very different to the norm. I quite like it and most people have had positive comments about it.

Here's a small video of 2 guys practice racing at our club that goes a little out of control.
Watch how the driver of the blue BMW 2006 M05 cuts corners, he does that ALOT! I have told him many times to stop it, and not race the leader of the race! When we put him a lap down in the races he cuts us off to makes us crash!
He usally finish 3 - 4 laps down on the top 3 everytime.

We have stopped inviting him to race, practice he can first (Joda talk )

just sharing...

Spoon-inspired Civic EK9 (HPI shell, 225mm wheelbase on a Tamiya M05)

the yellow is wrong but that was the only I could find and was in a rush to paint up the shell for a local mall race... pic was taken before the carnage from the race (hence the window masks still unpeeled).

80% of the guys at our club use these, including me. They're pretty good, especially for the price....
