    I run the gear diff that the kit comes with.... It works Very well. Instead of using a fluid, try using a THICK silicone lube instead....
    I have been very happy with my M05. It took a weekend to get the right tire combo and shock setup, but it runs very well.

  • Well, i have one that i built for my m03 that hasnt been used. I guess i will experiment with it stock and one with thick diff fluid (100k or 300k). I will report back. But if anyone has tried this, please chime in to save me some time/frustration.

    i personally have not tried that route but i will suspect that the fluid will leak out and not work very well.to make it work the best you should use a heavy type of grease for the best results.

    you dont have brakes but you can power out of the corners a lot quicker ,what some have done is put synthetic glue in the diff to lock it up some to. I seen on rc mart for the mo5 is that through 3 racing ??????? there is a locking spool availabe for the diff to if that will help
  • Try shimming the gear diff with extra shims on each side, thru a tip from another racer I used plastic body saver discs cut down to fit over the outdrives.
    Then I used the AW grease.

    Don't over tighten/strip the screws holding the diff gear halves together.

    It'll be very tight but still be a diff and not a spool.

    I like mine a lot!

  • Building the M05 this week , and been getting everything ready.

    1. Any change in your opinion on SS suspension hinge pins?. I have spares ones from my old kits that would fit.

    2. confirming that I read right to put AW grease into the TA03 diff? (this is the same thick grey stuff that comes with the Tamiya UJs pack)

    3. the pillow ball for the steering rod attaching to the knuckle: I have the tamiya front alu knuckle set (wish the pro had come with these instead of the rears!), what is the impact if I have the ball high on 5mm spacer, or low directly on the knuckle. I believe this affects bumpsteer?

    4. I need pistons! which is size for the TRF mini cylinders? There are several sizes (1.2, 1.3, and non stated) available ?

    Can't wait to get on track Friday night! Indoor carpet.

  • I GOT THE M05 WORKING FOR ME

    only .05 slower with it after 3 hours setting up

    and i had the M03 for 3 years !!!!

    i will post my set up on here tommorrow after my first race

    i am the fastest in our club now

    Is there a good M03 carpet setup out there?
    Needs to have Tamiya tires.

    I just would like to try back to back with my 03 and 05 to actually see on the clock which one is faster.
    I suspect my 05, but given that it still likes to tip when really pushed perhaps my 03 is the safer bet, but at least if I know the lap times for each then the descision is an informed one !

    M03
    blue rear springs with 400 oil in the shocks and 5mm spacer under the piston
    red front springs with 400 oil in the shocks and 5mm spacer under the piston
    about 1.5 degrees front toe out
    M grip tyres all round and superglue on the side of the tyres
    ball diff fitted

    M05
    blue rear springs with 500 oil in the shocks and 6mm spacer under the piston
    red front springs with 600 oil in the shocks and 6mm spacer under the piston
    5mm wheel hubs and 1mm spacer on them on the rear
    about 1 degree toe out front
    kit D tyres with superglue on the sides and on the first piece of outer tread on the front tyres ,

    the car WONT grip roll now and i am only 0.05 seconds slower with my M05 than i was with my M03

    use the gear diff in the M05 , the ball diff causes it to veer to the left on power and pull sraight when cruzing ,

    I like the Toyota Celica LB Turbo Gr.5. I just picked up an M-05 Pro myself, and will start the build soon. I've been using my M-01, but it's time for a change. M-Chassis are so much fun!
