zangonli, might depend on surface. in general, carpet m is stickier than s. in asphalt, s is stickier than m. others might have different experience.
Good point, thank you. my M04 had less spin-out with the S on the rear but still enough turn-in (running on asphalt); hwoever, it developed an instability at speed (once it came out of the corner) now, that could be due to another change I made at the same time - switched to mini cva dampers, as opposed to the standard cva. Will try to isolate the cause now..
has any one tried the tuned gear set from 3Racing ???
I have played with these gears and unfortunately 3 Racing has made a large mistake with these and the mesh is far too tight when the pinion is meshed to the spur gear.
I have contacted 3 Racing and their original answer was "to use oil" !!!!!
After further communications they must have tested their product and this was their reply
"After i discuss again with our technical team.
For our product of fast gear set(#M05-02), actually, our product it have a little bit tight than original tamiya kit gear set, for working, we test more time that it is no any problem for normal working, we think it may be cause a little bit noise or meshing problem when you are use different pinion gear, we will try our best to modify the parts in future"
If you read between the lines it would suggest that they are admitting that the mesh is very poor. I do know that when you put them in and attach the motor and pull the throttle you will go deaf from the high pitched squeal from the far too tight mesh.
Strictly speaking they all vary slightly one way or the other from 'true' 60D. 60D is an all-encompassing generic Tamiya term, no more than that.
And pretty much all the Tamiya Mini tyres (except for the ones on the XB kits) are this size.
I dont double stuff - it's just another thing that distracts you from getting out and actually running, which is WAY more important than any amount of messing around with inserts.

anyone got a nice stable M05 setup to run on Carpet with only Tamiya tires?
I'm having a heck of a time with my 05 pro.
It's very tippy.
oh, and loose too....
just something basic and simple I could copy as a start point would be a HUGE help !
Hi Stu, I've been running S grips all around, with a little CA glue on the outer edge of the fronts. Yellow springs all around, with 55wt in all four dampers and 3 hole pistons. Sauce as usual, inside fronts, full rears.
I've had great luck with this setup. Good turn in and stability. Can't get the car to go fast enough, but that's another issue.
