Looks good. I know from our testing here in Aust, that the 17.5 in mini is slower than using the Hobbywing 13T BL systems we use. However I suppose that is what is legal for you to run. The 17.5's are about the same speed as a really good silver can but with better consistancy.

Default Questions

What diameter/radius wheels are on the minis as standard, am i right in thinking its 26mm radius? What is the largest size i could get away with mounting on one? Im looking at getting one and kitting it out as a rally and something I would be interested in looking into would be larger wheels. The release date for the M-05 in the UK is late july at apexmodels.com

Width on the Swift wheels (most popular) are 24mm wide and 37mm diameter. I am not sure what you can get away with without rubbing. I believe someone makes rally block tires for mini wheels.

What would i need to buy out the box to run an M05? eg. batteries, chargers, esc...

Plus radio, servo, speedo (if going brushless motor too).

I've noticed a few things about the M-05 so far. First, a lot of the tuning logic that one learns on the M-03 doesn't apply. Try M-03 tricks, and your car will be a pig.

I tried the David Jun trick with the ball diff. I don't know if I did it wrong, but it sounded like a garbage disposal when I cranked it down. Still, I put it back in the car because it promised to be a little more grabby.

The car is rarely to see the track with the exception of perhaps cocky mates that reckon toy level cars can beat it. most of my tuning will be in regard to ride height etc to get it going on dirt. Anyone got any ideas for dust protection?

Tamiya mini tyres are 60mm diameter.

Spice,ABC, Ride,Kamikase,Express,Kawada,Pit Shimizu etc are 55mm diameter.

I think Ride do a rally block mini tyre, check RCMart.

Default M03l Value

Just a few opinions on what I can expect to pay for a M03l with a cheaper radio, ball bearings and a few other small options? Just an ballpark figure....75, 100, 125???

Default Used M-03

I recently purchased a used M-03. I removed all the brass and plastic bearings the previous owner had in the wheels. I'm gonna assume the tranny bearings are all gonna be brass or plastic as well. What is the process of getting into the tranny? Will I pretty much have to disassemble the vehicle totally? Is there any reference material you guys can direct me to on this? Thanks in advance.

pretty much...gotta take the front end off and then remove the screws so it splits into 2 parts..

simple car once you take it apart and put it back together...I actually rebuilt mine from the ground up in less then 2 hours

www.towerhobbies.com has a M-03L BMW Mini Cooper combo for $174.20-no additional goodies. Bearings, paint, etc are generally extra

Just dropping this here, I have the August 08 issue of RC Magazine (JDM mag 'yo!), and theres a tiny photo in the ''New Stuff'' section:



Its a carbon fibre M03 chassis conversion from Option No.1 that puts the motor up front and possibly has the cells going down the spine of the chassis (I'd lay them across it though... ).

Can anyone read Japanese?

Did you use a brand new 1150 bearing of great quality, I would not suggest a ceramic bearing either.
