So just WHAT is this all about?

Go here to find out exactly why Jays car has an 'interesting' body shell.
It's the HARRIS R/C Classic race report, online now

Where from? There are no A's available in South Africa and RP's and Shimizu's have never been seen here - ever! All that is available is some stock Tamiya's and some X patterns! Spice ??? who sells them?

Tried some 3-Racing last week! New tyres all round - enjoyed power sliding round corners ... drifting in a Mini! Replaced the rears with X's and was much better! They seem to have a lot of 'plastic' in them and have very sharp angled side walls but seem to improve with age! They don't like rain!

Wear rates on A types bought in Feb this year have completely different wear patterns from A's from 2007 - these I was able to use until I was literally running on the foam inserts - the Feb stuff -inner wall cut through in one race meeting - plenty meat left on the tread!

Awaiting some Kawada's to try!

Tyre situation in SA is chronic - okes not competing as they have no tyres

Standard setup used to be A's in front + whatever for rears!

Hey all,

I never received any sort of response to my question about enlarging the battery "tunnel" to fit my new SMC LiPos. I know doing so wouldn't be strictly according to Hoyle from a TCS standpoint, but I'd sure like to get this done in the next couple days.

As some may have already experienced, the square edges of the pack interfere with the walls of the tube. Is there any way to relieve a cut to clear one or both corners of the pack all the way through the tube?

Thanks,

Scottrik

You need to cut too much of the chassis away to get it to fit...

Hi All...

I haven't been on here in a little while... after SoCal closed I've been laying low on the mini scene and racing 1/5 scale RC Bikes.. and driving my real 68 mini.... ... but I have two things... first off, does anyone have any info/pics on the ABC Porsche GT2 body for the M03

Second: I am part of a Mini club called the Mini Owners of America Los Angeles (MOALA... www.MOALA.org) and we're having our "Mini Meet West 2008" from 6/26-29(www.minimeetwest2008.com). we're expecting more than 300 classic and new minis to hit Southern California... there will be autocrossing, fun rallies, car show, swap meet, vendor booths, etc... but the topper is that there will be an RC Car race on the Saturday of the show... and Tamiya has donated a Mini Cooper as a raffle prize... we may get more than one, but I'm not sure ... I just know they are on board... there will be AMB timing and trophies... the info is on the MiniMeetWest2008.com website under "registration"

Thanks

Don't think that 911 shell will fit onto an M03. Waaaaay too low at the front and the servo mount hits just at the bottom of the front screen..
Certainly the 911 I've got here (admittedly not the same one) wont go on without sitting up way too high to look any good.

well it's actually listed on eBay as being for the M03 chassis... so I don't know

the guy's pretty reputable... I've bought from him before... and he was actually recommended by you... so I would assume his description is accurate...

Maybe it fits the ABC chassis since it has lower body mounts?

Well it says 'For Tamiya M chassis cars' it doesn't actually specify M03's as such...

These shells were early ABC shells made mainly for M01/02's, not M03's. And yeah obviously it'll fit most of the 4WD chassis as well.

Certainly I wouldn't doubt Jason, he's great. But the description just says M chassis, not specifically M03's and I'd be thinking really long and hard before I bought it.

Maybe someone else has tried one?

Woah there..in the time I was typing the reply it sold anyway!!!

FOund it on another ebay listing

it's for the M01/02 chassis... it won't fit the M03 because of the servo

But I went back to double-check that listing and BAM! it was gone.... LOL

not that I was interested because the early ABC bodies weren't scale at all... but I was curious since I hadn't seen it any where else

I REALLY like the new ABC stuff though... can't wait until they release a re-mold of the classic mini cooper to go along with the countryman and the pickup

Speaking of ABC...

Adding electronics today for it's debut race in Seattle on Saturday. Now if there wasn't the 850mile/1400+km drive between now and then...

The Vintage Trans Am spec there is Silver Can motors w/ 6-cell nimh or 2-cell lipo. Here we run 4-cell nimh w/stock motors so I'm guessing this will be faster even with the Silver Can. A pic for comparison sake with my battle-worn (it's been a LONG season) VTA Camaro.
