From new box too completed car.... about 5 1/2 hours

Bodyshell to do tomorrow, and then give it it's first run

Excuse the TC wheels and tyres, I was gluing up the mini ones when I took the pics.

Nice! Are you going to run the motor in the picture? Is that a Monster stock?
Or is it a Komoda Dragon 19t? If it is, your going to have your hands full with that one!
How much is the kit in jolly ole England?

It's just a spare monster that I have in there for now... don't think the Tam speedo will take a 19t!

Have to say, quite impressed with the TEU unit, picked it up at the same time as the car, and just want to use it for bashin around a little at the moment, with a bit of racing later if I fancy it. My TA03-FS has a small Nosram unit in it, and it's crap, keeps on thermalling with an old and used 27t, despite being rated to 18t's, hmmm.

Still always got the MRT MX Pro as a spare from the 415

Car and so on came from RC Mart, orignially ordered one in the UK, but they had non in stock

Added a few tweaks already (ball joint shock mounts, delrin shock pistons, rebuildable UJ's, hardened drive cups, sway bars) mainly from spares in my pit box.

Whats a suggested spring/damper setup for a mini? not sure I agree with what the manual says, with Yellow front, blue rear, given that most of the weight of the car is in the front.....

Currently have it the other way round with Blue front (50wt oil, 2 holes) and Yellow rear (40wt oil, 2holes), following the build guide at the TRF USA pages.

is it normal for the m03m to have some slops at the whole components of front steering/suspension? rear are fine. it's just that the front has some slops. and if the car is at rest it has toe-out degree but if i will accelerate it will compress. do you think buying ballcup adjusters will cure?

They're all like that - it's normal.

You can stop it but you'll regret it if you do, turns a nice car into a bit of a pig. Minis are quite happy with a bit of slop up front.

why the heck do people run with the electronic mount up so high?

Mount them INSIDE the chassis.

I would, but I'd need to take the rear end apart to fit the speedo in... and for ease of crystal change I have the reciever there....

Maybe I'll change it in the future, but for my current purposes, where it is is fine

Hey all. I need a bit of help on a couple of areas. I am racing on an indoor asphalt track. I have S-Grips on all 4 corners of my M-04L. I am wondering if there are some better tires out there that are available (not the HPIs, as I can't get them). For a reference point, the TC guys at my track all run Sorex 36Rs. What should I get?

I also am thinking about the shocks. I am running the friction units right now. Is it worthwhile to get the oil shocks? If so, how do I set them up properly? Are there any non-Tamiya shocks that are good?

From my own experience with the M04's you will want M-Grips on the front or you will feel like the car wants to spin too easily.

The cars I play with the most all use the friction shocks as provided in the kit. Be certain that you've got the springs oriented front and rear (gold front/silver rear?) per the instructions. To get those backward will exacerbate that tendency to hook.

Finally, regardless what your buds run on their sedans AN M-CHASSIS TAMIYA WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER HANDLE LIKE A AWD TOURING CAR. DID I SAY EVER? Your M04 is rwd only and will generally require a lighter touch on the trigger than a TC to keep from spinning the rear. The payback? When you get it figured out they are a TREAT to drive and very realistic if you get it set into a drift.

Most of the HK and Singapore shops have had the wheels for some time. I know cos I've already got a whole heap of em!

But the chassis set is a new one on me. Problem is if it's like the plated M03R one it'll flake off pretty damn quickly...

I've seen the orange and yellow wheels for a while..but the other colors are new to me.

I'm sure the chassis will flake...but for carpet racers it would be fine.
