It's just a chassis switch. It took 2 Tamiya parts trees to do it. Oh and you have to switch to a 20 tooth pinion. The car is running the TCS regional here in 2 weeks and it's been very quick.

Ummm, there's no such thing....

Gear diff, or ball diff. That's your choice with a Mini! Unless you build your own one.

Actually, there's ... but unfortunately it's not an option part for M03 or any other chassis...
It's a spare part include in a kit ... just find the TAMIYA VW TOUAREG ...It's an off-road type vehicle and it includes the spool diff kind of.
But if you're unsure, just d/l the manual from tamiya web site and see.

I don't know if you can order it, just ask Masakiyo from RC CHamp, probably he can help you ...

Your top speed will be the same, but your acceleration out of slow corners should be faster ... and your left hand front wheel nut will be more prone to coming loose, so check it after every run ... this can also happen for nearly locked diffs as well.

akuhon - you speak of the mythological plate that wedges in between the planetary(?) gears on the gear diff (I think) ... I have seen the drawing but not the part - do you have one?

This is what I'm talking

See the G5 part ... that's all we need to lock the diff .... (make it as spool, right) ...

Yep, that's it - G5.

Have you seen the new 3 Racing blue alloy diff? it has some tricky device in it, looks like it could be lockable ...
