The Mona Lisa would make a crappy race car too, but it's still a work of art.

edit: -I still plan on racing my M05 (just may race the M06 at a few races)
Thanks, eR1c!

I think RWD is a great variation to have! Keep us posted on your build.

For TCS 2017, I heard at my local track that there will be a new spec tyre (non Tamiya) in M chassis

Has anyone else heard this?

2017 Rules posted in TCS thread still have the same Tamiya tyres.

It would be very unusual for Tamiya to allow a non Tamiya tire at one of their races. I'd love to see Sweep or Shimizu tires get specced for mini here. They last heaps longer and cost less.

Just read Fred's comment in the TCS thread that they are working on spec tires for a few classes. Most likely it would be for US TCS.

Fred "(Also, we are still looking at a NEW tire for the Series for certain classes. However, this has taken longer than expected, so we will continue to use the same tires for the regional races. Implementation of a new spec tire may not happen until the 2017 Finals.)"

I exclusively run Shimizu inner mesh series on mine and they perform like Sorex in TC. I use sweep inserts in them.

As for sweep tyres, I don't like that you're stuck with their rim. Otherwise they do perform well.

Quick question, I know according to Tamiya's web site all the Rover Mini bodies are discontinued... :'( While my body is holding up (it's got a few minor bruises), I just want to start putting watches out for the correct body (and get a spare ready for action). What's the correct item number for the Rover Mini Cooper Racing body that came with the kit numbered 58438? I'm asking because #49483 & #50795 both look correct while there's a few more that don't have pictures... I prefer to continue to rock a Tamiya Mini Racing body and so I just want to double check what number I should be on the look out for. And if I don't find one at some point, I'll just have to decide on another body of course (and that I know will be frustrating, as I like the Rover Racing mini best). Thnx!

I'm pretty sure 50795 is the stock one. 49483 is a lightweight version of the same mold. If you find one that comes with some plastic sprues such as the grille and wing mirrors, that's the Monte Carlo version.

Thanx for that clarification.

I think the monte Carlo might have fitment issues with the M05... At least, went it gets right slammed down on the chassis (seen a Youtube video of someone who built an M05 Monte Carlo with the older smaller tires and has major body rubbing issues - his doesn't appear to be as low as mine either).

I know I get the occasional rub if the body gets into contact with something (like a wall), but otherwise I don't have clearance issues. But I also know my body is probably about as slammed down on the chassis as much as it can be given how very razor tight the clearances are, hence why I wanted to be sure of numbers (as I look to avoid the Monte Carlo edition (though I love the look of that one in it's livery).

Crazy question here; but racing on black crc carpet makes thing think almost traction roll despite coating nearly 1/3 of the front tire with ca glue.

Should I also ca the rear tire as well? maybe just a little of the outside tread? or is it better to go up in springs to perhaps red front and yellow rear; 40wt oil in the shocks; again if racing on crc black ozite.

My front diff is 500K if that is a problem or not.

RCReggie- I'm sure you already probably know, but you can also play with thinner axle hex hubs and sand down the wheel hub side a bit on the inside to tuck the wheels in a little for added clearance.

I run the Monte Carlo (M01) body on one of my M05's. It runs fairly well, but it's a lot top heavier due to the scale decorations. I like it, but not really intended for racing.

Here is another M05 where I slammed the ride. This is the non-Monte Carlo M05 with its kit body. This is also running 55mm.

I gave in. Ordered a M05 R version. $200 was the price . Do I need those carbon shock towers? Not sure if it came with the kit. Can't wait. I should have it in 3-4 days[USPS priority]
