I use 2S lipo's on the TBLE02S kit ESC all the time..or is he limited to non-lipo's you mean? I use lipo, NiCD, Nimh no issue.

I recommend getting a cheap low voltage alarm for use with Lipo.

Not even bearings? What manner of barbarism is this? You can run lipo, just get a low voltage alarm or be very conscious of when your battery runs. Generally, after a 5 minute race, it'll need charging.

Are you allowed to modify any of the kit parts? Cutting a coil off the springs would do wonders for ride height. Be sure to sauce the tires, especially if they're kit provided.

I used Lipo's on the older kit ESC TEU-104BK and TEU-105BK. Both worked fine with 2S Lipo's.

I think the issue is the low voltage alarm you want to get for Lipo's.
Just use something like this.

Both of my RTR Mini Cooper kits came w/ the Tamiya ESC that has LVC (for lipo cutoff) and can run brushed or brushless

Tamiya's low voltage cutoffs are usually setup for LiFePo4 cells, for some silly, backwards ass reason. I guess they figured we'd all be running slower, with less voltage in the future. Of course, they made their LiFe batteries very scarce anywhere but Asia.

So much truth to that, take my M-Four for example. I can't even think about running some wimpy LiFe pack with a brushed 380 on it per their instructions. The chassis can handle so much more, and I have proof running 2800kV brushless with a 2S Lipo. Thing is fast.

I have a question for you ...you mentioned that several of the drivers at the TCS championships had multiple batteries someone even loaned one to you (I believe you mentioned).

Can I ask what type of batteries were the top guys using? What do you recommed? I have a M05 VII and have been running a square pack ...its a "Team Orion" 4500mah 100c battery that I've been using.

from what I saw throughout the entire week, we all were using the 1600SP Tamiya NiCad.

World Final Rules called out that the 'max limit' for capacity was 1600mah..

For your local club racing I would just use whatever gives you good voltage. Within club rule, of course...
