Tamiya mini cooper

Bonding foam to the body has passed tech in the past. I've been using the M06 foam bumper and silicone glueing it to the body

Carlton, did you have an issue with one of the minis overheating Saturday? Or Judy worried about the future runs?

My biggest concern is the M03R I have that I built. I weighed it - ready to run (no fan), And I knew it would be light. What I wasn't expecting was I need to add something in the neighborhood of 200 (two hundred) grams to get it to legal weight.
TCS rules allow up two fans, so there's some weight I can add.
Thanks Grampa!

Anyone know what the new mini tcs weight is?
All M-chassis cars must meet a minimum weight of 1250 grams.

The Tamiya USA web site shows 1250 per the following link:
http://www.tamiyausa.com/tcs/tcs.php?article-id=531
That said, the 2014 Regional TCS .pdf that was released shows the weight minimum at 1300g
http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...s-rules-v2.pdf
Confirmed with FMW - 1300g is correct

You built an M03 that weighed 1000 grams, battery in, body on, ready to go? I'm impressed. I haven't been able to get one quite that light. All Plastic? Really small battery? Curious to know.

1120 grams less transponder. AL uprights, shocks, mini receiver, AL driveshafts, Novak speed control. Aluminum screws anywhere it's not load bearing, 4200 mha PEAK battery.
Here's a pic (i know, it's 1146g, I added 26g of tungsten before I had to stop because I ran out, and I'm not taking it out for the photo). Only 160 grams left to go!

I had to add a round 60g to my mini in order pass tech Saturday. Was surprised as the last time I weighed it I could have sworn it was right at the old spec of 1280g. Mind you I am still brushed at this point too.

I'm pretty sure Rob had his less than 1000 the first round with that 2s receiver pack he was running....

Lol. That wouldn't have surprised me in the least. I knew he had the pack in there like that and we both had a good laugh when he told me. I wasn't worried about anyone's tech other than mine because I always get tech'ed because I get called a cheater a lot. I welcome anyone to do a full tear down if they so wish to prove them wrong. I was just elated to have more minis running.

Rob got two and a half from Dustin, so he and Maria will be rolling here shortly. Daniel has a M05 now, he texted me at the track and told me he'd be out by the end of the month. And I have the Rent-A-Racer, the massively underweight M03r, and two M05s still in a box. Somebody asked me what class a new racer should run, I told him Mini or VTA. The class is growing.
I think I need a Tamiya intervention.

Is it necessary to put weights at the front of a m05 chassis for better grip on the front wheels? if yes, how much weight?

I also changed my car over to the long wheelbase to try to get more forward traction, but it hasn't proven to be a big advantage versus the medium wheelbase.
