or you can buy two sets of the gear diff II outdrives, and use the short sides to get the horseshoe. Kinda expensive, but you save weight too.

The other reason is that I hope the spec r diff will not leak as much as the stock one

very interesting thread. I am on the market for a new car. I want to race again this time electric. But in between racing, I want to do a little casual driving, maybe drifting (just to relax after work).
I was looking at different cars by tamiya:
TA05
TB03
FF03
however I was recently made aware of the TA06. I wonder if this new chassis will fit my needs.
My understanding is that this T06 is the evolution of the TA05 is this correct? Which for someone like me who is getting back to rc, make sense to buy over a T05 (older platform).

its more of a ff03/ta05 ifs hybrid. best part is the Ta06 uses parts from about 5 different chassis:ff03, ta05(and IFS), trf417, tb03d, trf416. My front hubs are from a ta05ifs knucles are from a ff03, rear hubs from a trf417. These are the pix of MY baby. I need to weigh it. I cannot participate in TCS races anymore. lolim racing in RCGT. I have yet to race it since i got my hubs, carbon chassis and abec 7 bearings.

Yes, the titanium screws are hex driven.

Ran my right side steering last night. Car worked very well. Our carpet track had just been steam cleaned. The green condition made it hard to get the car "in the track," but it was very promising.

Now the waiting game.
It is really necessary to tap the holes before? can't I just tap them with a normal screw? - In the past when Ive built cars I never pre tapped anything with a special tool.
Also, the TAMIYA HEX driver is mentioned? - can I not use my Huddy set?

If you buy the tamiya screw set, for some reason only the tamiya hexes fit "right". you can use a Hudy but it wont fit right. (dont ask me how/why, just know that this is a KNOWN issue with tamiya phillips and hex heads.)
as far as tapping, yes. Tap it! Tamiya "non hop-up" plastic is very rubbery. you will strip threads! The carbon reinforced is even worse. Its more gritty!

havent stripped any threads ever in my tamiya kits, just be careful when you screw the screws into the chassi!
if you use std phillips screws then pretap the holes if you havent got a good screw driver, the phillips screws are a real pita!!!
havent tried tamiya titan screws yet (have used 3racing screws on my previous kits and they have been working just fine with my hudy drivers)

about using to much force when screwing into a new hole, its all about getting to know the plastic i have been in this hobby for 20 years so i havent got a problem with it
tamiya plastic is quite soft, booth the std and graphite (especially compared to the plastic in my 3racing sakura xi that i drive now)
