Oh man, stop with the old memories already! lol. I started racing in '86 with a Tamiya Blackfoot. :P
-Fiberglass shock towers made by JG Manufacturing? Those things looked like they were 1/4" thick.
-A arms made by Andy's? Before they started making bodies.
-The 'world champion' Kyosho Ultima? My dad started racing one of those, on carpet, in early '87.
I still have, in a pile on the floor next to my desk, an issue of RC Car Action from Nov. '89, which covered the off road nats, and a shootout between the original RC 10 and the 'newcomer' JRX2.
That's not the oldest issue I still have in a box somewhere. I also still have a box full of parts for the original JRX2/JRXT black transmissions. Could probably build 2-3 trannies from parts. A couple of guys showed up last weekend at the local indoor track with some original gold tub chassis RC10's. Wow, the advances in technology 20+ years has brought!
