Man,those vids just remind me of how MISERABLE my car was that day.
I think we tossed every idea at that thing and it just kept spinning lap after lap.
Seeing those vids and getting to hear the tires really helps me realize just how bad my setup was.. Good grief what a bad day of racing......

DARKSIDES pics also remind me I need to get to work on a spoiler too.ty

Default on-track advantages

I have purchased a used TA05 to run in a VTA/Scale spec class at a local facility. The idea of keeping cost down while maintaining a balanced playing field is what attracted me to this on-road division.

Is running a brushed setup a disadvantage when compared to a brushless system? Basically, will a Nimh brushed car be able to compete against a Lipo brushless car?

Sorry if this question has been addressed in previous posts.

You'll do just fine. Some people actually prefer the brushed motor setup. Just remember, in september the national rules change allowing only the 25.5 BL goes into effect. Overall, the BL is cheaper and more consistant.

I didn't realize that 25.5 BL was going to be the only motor allowed. Guess that answers my question!

Thanks for the response.

look around and see what kind of rubber tire setup AE has on its site for the TC5 - most guys seems to start with a chassis 'standard' rubber tire setup and tweak from there

TC3, TC4, TC5 (see a pattern forming here?)
Old Xrays, just be certain there is parts support for them (there's a reason some of these cars are dirt cheap!)
Old Losi's like the XXX & mid-motor JRXS (ironically, none of their parts are discontinued like the Type-R's topdeck)

It's all about parts support, because at these speeds, the chassis doesn't matter much at all.

I had the same question and got a response similiar to the one above.

I just picked up a used Tamiya TA05 to run in VTA. This chassis is very popular (in many different classes) where I plan to race so tech help will be there when I need it and parts are not an issue.

The kit setup is pretty close out of the box. If the grip is very high, go one spring stiffer front and rear, and lower it about a half mm. If the grip is very low, go one spring softer and make it a little taller. The vintage tires have a little built-in camber due to their unique construction, so I run .5 degrees camber. The main thing you want to do is keep the car balanced between push and loose.
