my vote would be for the camero body because it is durable the cuda body was torn to pieces when i used it at underground ( hit a pipe flew across the track hit a cinder block and when up the wall as a first hit and ripped the whole front end apart and got a little piece of lexan stuck in my tire.

did about the same with the camero and just cracked the corners.

I love the Camaro, having been an F-Body fan sine I was a kid... however, our racing tonight included 6 Camaro's and no other bodies

I love the diversity possible, but everyone has come to the thought that the Camaro is the "best" body @ our track

if you pick the HPI body option, this is my take

the Cuda is the lightest and tears the easiest. Its great for paint schemes and "special" events and races

the Mustang is the middle child, thats tougher than the Cuda but lighter than the Camaro. It paints up very well but not as smooth as the Cuda

the Camaro is the tough guy, its also the heavy boy too. It can be painted up nice and its the only one you dont have to mess with the bumper add-on.

adding shoe goo to any of them is a must. If Im using the Cuda for "special" race I dont add any cause its going to look like "UGGGG" when Im done. Plus I dont like adding any weight to it...and the goo will add some grams..hope this helps

here are 3 of my early paint jobs with all 3 HPI bodies..funny the Camaro is the only one I have that I still run after a year ...lol

RACE REPORT...I know its long,but here goes

July 19th Points Race at Hobby Lobby

This had to be one of the best summer days for racing in a long time. The weather was around 75 degrees with a little cloud here and there. Nice breeze every now and then, that set up some of the closest racing we had all year.

We had 2 classes of Trans-am and 2 classes of TCR with 6 Jr TA cars battling for the belt. And alot of visiting hopefulls to join the on-road scene in the near future.

First round saw a strong mix of chassis and motor battery combos in TA. We had TC3-5, 009's, Traxxas 4tec,T1,008's,HPI Srint 2 all running every combo allowed 4cell/27t,21.5/lipo.17.5/4cell, and TMPLR(17.5/27t/lipo/fdr) and the amazing even speeds that were produced. Of course setup played a role as well as battery, but for the most part very close racing all day....

For TCR its was a battle between Donald and up and coming TCR driver "BATTMAN" with Brad following up top 3. Current points leader, Robert Dirla fell to 6th place for round 1. We knew that wasnt going to last.

Jr TA saw the return of Spidey to challenge Daniel for the title. It would seem as if Daniel has the title locked up for the summer as he his defending the title for the 4th race in a row. Spidey would have to wait this rd out when he broke his TC3 only after 5 laps. Daniel pulled out a nice TQ start with 19 laps, with Tomlin and new comer Austin in top 3

ROUND 2...saw the TA class change up after Battman lost a fan off the motor during a wreck. Both Donald and the BATT was on new TQ pace when the fan had to be pulled. With steady hands Donald(TQ) went on to earn his nickname again..TQ with a nice finish. This changed up the standings after RD2

In TCR saw much of the same with" TQ" reseting tq again. But it also saw the BATT pull in a little closer , no two lap advantage anymore. And with the exception of a bad turn here and there they were both on 35 lap pace. Still no Dirla in the top 3? but you knew its coming

JR TA was a good battle for the top spot with Daniel and Spidey swapping leads. This set the tone for the rest of the day with a boost of confidence building with each round for the Jr's. It seems that this could turn out to be anybodies day. See my point.....

RD 3..was a battle of Point leader(BATTMAN) and runner-up(Rodney), which was a small space between them. With tq getting the extra point, it was important to lay it all on the line for the final round qualifier. That one point can make a difference in 1st and 2nd in the points race. We got to see Rodney burn the asphalt to get into the top 3 for the 1st time all day with a strong 32 laps, which was good enough to put him second on the start of the main. But the Battman wasnt going to be out done on this day. Laying down 33 laps to take the all important TQ point and position.

TCR was awesome for the racers and viewers as well. We saw all 3 top drivers run the train for most of the final qualifier. All finishing with 35 laps and second from each other. It also put current points leader up to 2nd in standing for the main, bumping the Bat down to 3rd.

JR TA was set to draw battle lines in the asphalt for a belt they all would love to take home and have their picture on the web page. As well as points. We got to see the tightest race of the Jr's of the day with both Daniel and Spidey finishing with 20 laps with Tomlin on 19 laps. But Daniel early TQ of 21 laps was still intact.

MAINS...

Sportsman TA was a mix of leaders from start to finish with lead changing 4-5 times in 8 min. Our wonderful race director pulled out a nice win at the end to take home the points. Along with new comer David placing 2nd in his first race and Bobby in 3rd

Pro TA saw the BATTMAN regain a strong grip on the points race with an all out flawless race from start to finish. Running in 1st place for all 43 laps, not to be out done 2nd place Rodney finished with 43 as well. "TQ" fell to 3rd with 42 laps.

TCR-B was not to be out done by the great racing in TA. The "B" main, with the top 3 all getting a chance to lead this battle for top TCR. Stuart running 27t brushed pulled a 3.5 second win over Brad Norris with Tim Moore carring a strong 3rd

TCR-A, as exciting as all the racing was todayTCR-A was not going to disappoint at all. And the sad thing it wasnt the best race of the day. But it was a good runner-up. The Battman was 1st to lead, then "TQ",then Dirla. Lead changes only occured when a 12+ second lap was made by top 3. One mistake and you lost your position. It was truly amazing to see this type of racing out of tc. In the end Dirla showed why he is current points leader.On the last lap with me and Donald only half second behind ,"TQ" made his move only to come up short when "Dirty" Dirla closed the corner on him. This lead to my 1st victory over my rival TQ in TCR this season.

JR TA is why we should all race and support our kids in something other than t.v. and Playstation. This race is by far the most exciting of the day only cause it had real passion coming from the kids running in it. After showing the belt to the kids and telling them to remember to have fun we were set to start. Daniel lead for 10 laps and Spidey lead for 11 laps. This was a major factor in the out come of the race. With less than a min left (4 laps)and leading 11 consective laps , Spidey saw victory finally after 2 title losses to Daniel. But a wreck in the start of the sweeper caused Spidey to hit the marshall that was cleaning up the wreck. This allowed Daniel the window , he needed to take the lead and win. Its was heart breaking for Spidey, but you live and race another day. GREAT RACE GUYS and you all deserve a round of FROSTIES on me...lol

for the cuda bodies and others. Once you get them painted and mounted, try using drywall tape with a little shoe goo. This is kinda like fiberglass cloth but lighter. It will almost make the front end bullet proof...almost. I think the bodies are thinner to allow for all the molding details in the grill. The cars with less detail tend to be thicker in these areas. Hope this helps.

You know I had it in my head that I had never talked to you in person, only on here. But after seing that picture of your Camaro at primetime, I think I have meet you.

+1 on the HPI Cuda and drywall tape/shoe goo.

If you take a little extra time with the Cuda bodies they can easily last a few months. Locally we run indoors on a tight track with wooden barriers and another racer has been using a Cuda for a couple of months and it still looks good. He also made sure that his foam bumper was doing a good job supporting the body/absorbing some of the impacts.

our Jr TA class mostly run 27t/lipos...BUT TONED DOWN REALLY FAR.LOL! the parents like myself regulate the speeds along with attitudes and fun factor.....they run the same stuff as VTA/Pro TA just alot slower. but as long as you keep them all slow they will have some really good side-by-side racing....and once they start running fast enough to place in the Rookie or Sportsman class we bump them up...most of our Jr's range from 6-14 years old

probably so, I came down with Dirla for the TOP GUN RACE last year. I took both bodies with me, the Bat-stang was considered "Illegal" so I ran the Camaro...had alot of fun at my first outta town VTA race....trophy was nice as well...are you in any of the pics?

Age really isn't a classification factor, it's really the driver skill level.... as we've had some old men in the Jr. class before!

Like battman said, they are the same rules but most parents dial down the power just so it's easier to learn car control...especially in the Jr. class the fastest car doesn't usually win..it's the most consistent. ..most figure that out after awhile. lol.

when my step son was racing, we shared the same car I ran against battman, but on totally different radio (power) profiles...

Thanks for the pointers. If the other "juniors" make it to the track consistantly, I'd like to do that for my 11 year old. He's very intimidated by the adults. Normally he's pretty quick when he runs his line in practice, but he gets too agressive with trying to catch the guy in front of him in the heat races. He needs more practical racing experience to get over this and I need to be able to work on setup instead of repairs between heats.

You can ask IndyRC Racer about my "tank" Cuda bodies

A roll of drywall tape, a tube of ShoeGoo, and one properly cut bumper will ensure that the Cuda body last FOREVER. I also drywall tape/ShoeGoo the sides because I've been t-boned before and it actually folded the body inside and caught on my motor/ESC. ALSO, I ShoeGoo the rear spoiler so it doesn't rip off.

I also like how the Cuda body handles at our track. It seems to transition quicker than the Camaro or Pegasus Mustang. I've actually track-tested the 3 bodies in a row to see the results (same setup, etc.) on the same night.

Cuda - transitioned well, just a tad twitchy.
Camaro - loosened the car up, rotated nicely.
P. Mustang - car was planted through sweeper and chicanes.

When someone says the body doesn't matter, they are lying

I'll run the first heat with the Camaro and run the second heat with the Mustang. Then, whichever was faster I'll use in the Main! It changes depending on the layout.

Cody forgot to mention that he also won the last 2 times out with a FT TC4. However he got a good deal on a used Xray, so I think the rest of us at Indy Slots have a better chance until he gets it dialed in.

I hate it when they get like that. (About the bat shell) Im not in any of the pics that you posted, as far as I can see.

I hate that PT is gone and it looks like they really are gone now. Since I dont have a hobby shop Im not going to say how I could have done it better. Maybe I would have folded too. It happens to too many shops/Tracks.

Well Brian (IndyRC), I had the XRAY runnin' pretty hot last night

Just need to make a roll-center adjustment on the front and it'll be set. Threw the car together at the track Wednesday but only got about 3 laps of practice in. It's going great for throwing a blind setup on it!

Figured I'd take 2 weeks off and let Mark Lyons have a couple of wins
