The latest USVTA news out of Brookfield , WI...

Rumors have it that there are over 30 entries in the Vintage Trans-Am class at this years 13th annual Novak Brushless Race held at Trackside Hobbies in Brookfield, WI. The Novak, named for the race sponsor, is the first Major race every year in the US hosted by Scotty Ernst and Trackside.

The VTA class may end up being the largest and definatly the most competitive class of the weekend. A peek at the enrty list revealed several past National Champions from several states and various forms of RC racing that have migrated to this highly competitive and entertaining class founded on the principals of close racing and bringing the "fun" factor back to RC racing accross the nation.

Qualifying begins this Friday, so it isn't too late to make this event!

So.... when are they changing the rule?

When you race? I guess you don't hear much bitchin.

been running Mini-z lately...

and every post from you in this thread lately has been "when they changing the motor rule?"

So I don't need to hear you in person, Scooby - I see it in black & white

When I get a saturday that I can get to the Bowl, I'll be down - if not, I'll be running all summer outside

Hey guys i was just wondering about the width limits for the class, how wide a stance are you allowed to use, i have heard whatever makes it fit under the body, but was wondering if there was more to it? Thanks

Scooby,

If you want a new motor approved, get your favorite manufacturer to put up the money, pay the fees and file the forms. It requires ROAR approval. Until then, it doesn't matter, its in the rules. Besides if all motors are built to the same spec, it won't matter as they won't be approved if they're not.

Why do you want to use other motors so bad?

Really, enough about the motors. It's not real amusing anymore just to stir muck. The USVTA rules aren't changing anytime soon. New 21.5 motors aren't in the cards right now, and the way the class is growing with leaps and bounds, they might never be. If you are sponsored and want to run your company's motors, find another class or run a 17.5.

Was is the max width we can run in VTA?

The question could read, "Can I run a 200mm electric car assuming everything else is legal on my car?"

Here are some electric cars that I know can be run at 200mm
-----
HPI RS4 Sport/Pro - using wide bones/cvd
Associated TC3 - rally kit included 200mm arms/cvds
Associated TC3 using NTC3 suspension (some after-market chassis allow this as an option)

Not sure if anyone answered the width question a few posts previous to this one, but I've wondered the same thing myself.

May be someone can test the 200mm conversion cars.........but does 200mm (wider) car has any advantage..? I would say a wider car will turn less and have a difficult time to get thru the corner compare to the narrower car.

There is no width spec in the rules, outside of keeping the tires inside the body.

I don't know if it would be an advantage or not. On Tamiya cars at least, the hot setup is to go to the narrower hop-up arms, which purportedly increase mechanical grip.

Also, depending on the body you choose, your wheels may stick out.

I've checked on my TA05 -- fronts are 190 mm, rears are 200 mm. The rears on a TC4 are also at 200 mm.
