Im changing the mood

I ran my VTA car for the first time tonight. It was a BLAST. I was a good bit slower because I had a 25.5 set up, and the track runs 21.5.
A very nice dude at the track loaned me a 21.5 for the main.
That dude gets 2 thumbs up man.
I cant wait to get my car dialed in better, and running in the pack.

I need some help here........I know the rules state 26mm fronts, zero O/S. 31/6 rear.
Here's my problem- My sons TA-04 needs 6 O/S in the front to even be close to wide enough with a 200 body. I bought, painted, trimmed, a 200 mm 70 Boss body today. I've got the feeling it's headed to E-Bay..........Which bodies are 190's??
Thanks

You can shim the hexes, or buy wider hexes if you really want to push the tires out. I would say, however, the vast majority of drivers do not change the width on the cars. The tires will not necessarily be all the way out to the edge of the fender, and that's fine.

And for what it's worth, there are no 190mm bodies.

Having the wheels tucked in the wells will actually help you. Your body will make contact with cars and walls but it will just glance off. The rubber on the tires grabs and takes hold. Don't sell the body. If it really bothers you use wider hexes like stated above.

By the way, the 66 mustangs seem to fit a little tighter. Run the boss. You will need another body eventually.

To Robk

I'm sure you don't hear this enough. Thank you.

I for one appreciate the rules update. It really clarified a lot of things that have been debated. I think discussing the new products on the market is a good idea but I'm very glad that you come to a quick ruling on what will and won't be allowed.

To everyone complaining.

Funny how so many people complain when they don't have a "horse in the race". If you don't like the rules then you don't need to run vta. The class works just fine as is. Leave it alone. I would like to see a bump in the mah of the batteries but guess what? 5000 limit so that is what I run. No complaining. Lifting the roar approval is a very fair compromise and I can definitely keep racing with a smile.

Thanks to all of the vta guys who keep this fun and interesting.

O.K guys thanks for the answers. There are some wide 12mm hexes in the crawler-world, so I'll shoot that way. The scaler in me just hates that crap. I know body-glances are better than wheel-wheeiles, but just damn...........What if I slice and dice a 200mm body???? Hummmmm

Here I am with two-stacked 3mm/12 hexes, which I can pin together, but don't leave a lot of thread-meat, but I think I can fix that. Excuse the hammered ricer wheels, they are 26-Zero Os's tho..........

Hi Rob,

Is the battery required to be both cells in the same case, or are saddle packs allowed? Can we use two individual 1s cells wired in series? I ask because there are some older chassis (like the Xray T1) that require major mods to fit the 2s-in-a-case Lipo battery. Thanks in advance for your reply!

I think this is where a lot of us are at, also. Per the Novak sheet, the 25.5 motor pulls 82 watts over seven minutes. The 21.5 pulls 85! IMO, anything with that little power the battery matters not. Same for the X drive Novak speed control.

Are all those VTA cars supposed to spend so much time upside down?

I think you've got the wrong front wheels/tires. It's not any 26mm wide wheel with 0 offset, it's specifically the Vintage 26mm fronts with the Vintage front tires.

Looking at the pic, I think you've got possibly two things going on if you've really got 12mm thick spacers behind that wheel. Either:
1) That's not the vintage wheel/tire combo
2) You've got the wrong arms on that chassis
3) Possibly both 1 & 2

Edit:
I'm almost positive that it's #1 now that I look more closely at the pic of the wheel.

Edit #2:
Don't let that stop you from showing up at Hot Shots to practice/race, no one will care if you aren't 100% if you're trying to get there. Most of us have extra wheels/tires that you can borrow/use as well. Get it on the track. Worry about the details later.

It should be specifically HPI part numbers 4793 and 4797 for the tires and the corresponding vinatge rims. ROAR cannot name a mfg specific in their rule set.

With the shortage of those tires, we are allowing the Vintage performance tire as a substitute for CLUB level events only
