SNIPR, if you're talking about VTA or USGT tracks, sadly there aren't any that I know of on the opposite coast. As far as I know, we are the only club offering official VTA and USGT. There are some places offering 17.5 RCGT but I'm not sure if any near Tampa.
Check the Florida regional forum.

I just saw that Reedy has released a "shorty" 4000mah 2cell lipo battery. (http://www.teamassociated.com/reedy/parts/details/306/)

Looks like I might finally have a decent battery that I can used in my HPI Pro3 for VTA. I wonder if this battery might also fit in the original Losi JRXS?

I might also be able to shave some weight from my TC4, which is 1450 grams BEFORE I put on the body

PS:

Looks like there are other companies that now offer "shorty" batteries. Here are some additional links

* $119 web 4000/60c by Trinity/Team Epic (http://www.trinityrc.net/shop/index....&product_id=92)

**$109 retail 4000/60c by Reedy (http://www.teamassociated.com/reedy/parts/details/306/)

*** $100 web 4000/60 by Racers Edge (http://www.racers-edge.com/Racers_Ed...p2s400060c.htm)

*** $80 web 3800/60c by Protech/A-Mainhobbies (http://www.trinityrc.net/shop/index....&product_id=92)

*** $80 web 3800/60c by Losi (http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB9880)

$60 web 4200/40c by Calandra/TEAM CRC - (http://www.teamcrc.com/crc/modules.p...prodID=7719187)

*** $55 web 4000/60c by Promatch (http://www.promatchracing.com/prodde...prod=2S400060C)

* Photo of product is ROAR approved, but description of product doesn't match ROAR approved battery (4000/65c)
** Photo of product shows ROAR approval, but product not listed as ROAR approved (see below link)
** Denotes ROAR Approved as of 10/20/2011 (http://www.roarracing.org/?page_id=259)

Wonder what the weight difference is between that and a standard size. If close to the same that shorty may be handy for alot of us trying to fit all the crap in these cars plus 100+ grams of weight lol.

The reedy is better looking but for a dollar difference I would rather have two of the Promatch.

I checked on Towerhobbies.com, and the Reedy pack is listed but not available yet. The current price is around $95. Usually after Tower gets the specific item in, the price drops down to a more reasonable rate.

I updated my earlier post with a few more battery manufacturer. I noted if I could find the ROAR approval of a specific product.

I will leave it up to individuals to determine if a specific battery that they are wanting to use is ROAR approved (http://www.roarracing.com/approvals/lipobattery.php).

Also, keep in mind that USVTA rules call for ROAR approval on the battery pack. Neither the Promatch or the CRC indicate that they are ROAR approved - at least not in the pictures or description.

The Revtech "Double Deuce" 4000 65C short pack has been out for a few months now. It's ROAR approved and weighs in at only 205 grams. Protek also has a ROAR approved 3800 60C short pack. But don't forget to buy more lead for your sled!

You know if you want to lay down some smack in VTA on the 29th I will loan you a shell wheels and tires, motor and esc. Just use your chassis and punch some new body holes for the shell. You will need a small spur gear. I think I can loan you that too.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to a Halloween Jam on the 29th. If by some chance I do show up on the 29th, I'll be running Sedan.

Wow ! Great day of VTA down here in sunny Florida ! Weather was low 80's, sunny and just plain gorgeous. The racing was bumper to bumper (and some times bumper on bumper). Days like this remind me of why I enjoy VTA so much !! Anybody comin down south is welcome to come race with us here on the East coast of Florida...but then again....you'll all be comin down for the Snowbird Nationals....RIGHT ???

Default USVTA Kickoff Race at CRCC in Easley SC

We had a great USVTA Kickoff Race in Easley SC this past Saturday.
It was our biggest turnout to date and we had an awesome group of racers!!!

3rd qualifier: http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...d%20qualifier/

A-Main and Concourse (and some tech table shots): http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...d%20Concourse/

Awards: http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...%20-%20Awards/

While we're thanking people, it's only appropriate to send a special thanks to my wife, who took all of these pictures. Thanks, indeed!

Here's one shot that I just had to link directly...GO CHRIS!:

Looking forward to Battlefield on Oct 29!

We had 7 in our VTA race at RCAR in Indianapolis yesterday. I came in last, but I was glad to provide that service, unselfishly, to my fellow racers.

Love racing at RCAR!
