According to the 2009 rules you will want to gear in the 5.4 - 5.7FDR range. A 64 pitch 100Spur / 41Pinion would be 5.2FDR and 100S / 37P would be 5.76FDR.

Then when you switch to the 25.5 you can just drop in 56P or 58P(if 58P will fit with a 100S) for a 3.8(56P) or 3.67(58P)FDR. Personally I am running a 96/53(3.86FDR) or 96/56(3.65FDR). With the 3.86FDR my motor temps are in the 125* range and around 135* with the 3.65FDR. I am thinking of going to 93/56 (3.54) or 93/58 (3.42) if the motor temps will stay below 160*.

My S2S came with the 15T Fireball so I had to switch them to brushless right away. So I have a 21.5 VTA and a 17.5 TC. I did mess around with the stock motor & ESC a few times. I did have a problem with the heat sink coming off the ESC during races.

Pick up the HPI heavy duty ball cups or the RPM ball cups & replace ALL of the stock ones. Go with Robinson Racing for your spur & pinions. They are a couple dollars more, but I have yet to strip a gear.

Thanks for the tip on the ball cups and spurs!! I just got to wait on the brushless combo for now. I do want to hop the two cars up. Its to bad that hpi doesn't offer the sprint in like team kit or pro VTA WITHOUT radio. I wish u could post some pics of ur sway bars on the car???

I had a problem popping camber and steering links. The RPM cups are a tight fit so you will have to put them on and crush them a little with some pliers to get them to loosen up.

I am not running my s2s with swaybars. But Here is a link to some pictures of the swaybars installed on a s2s. http://www.drccentral.com/forums/ind...dpost&p=140386. This guy used Cyclone TC arms also.

Be aware that the official rules have NEVER allowed a brushed motor of ANY wind with a LiPo. The battery spec for the brushed 27T motor was the 4-cell NiMH packs and there has never been an FDR limit. What you are looking at as the "2009 rules" are not rules (at least not as regards FDR and 27T / 4-cell systems) but a recommended range.

A 27T motor with 2s LiPo should be at a STRONG advantage to cars running 25.5 and probably to cars running 21.5.

I just going to run the stock system for 2 weeks and get 2 vta systems ordered on the 8th of October. Besides my son will just play with his until he gets better driving it. I will race and limit my radio so I try to be equal on the track.

if you are coming this way...bring what you have and some pinion gears and we can get you on the right track for starters...you will need to upgrade to the 21.5 or 25.5 asap...but we ran 27t/lipos for awhile against the offical rules..and we have that "magic" FDR for you

Hey guys just wondering what people are using for drag brake in VTA? It's been awhile and I don't have any expirence with the 25t. I'll be using an Tekin RS speedo with 208 profile? Thanks

Also what's the best spur and pinion for 5.0 in VTA? RW brand any good? 100t?

Thanks.
