He needs more practical racing experience to get over this and I need to be able to work on setup instead of repairs between heats.
the best thing to do is talk to other parents and stay in touch...and make sure you set a schedule with the other parents to be at the track on certain days...even if its only 3 of you...Ive learned most kids dont mind losing to other kids, but when a child chases a adult around a track for 8 min, they seem to get frustrated cause of the age factor. hope you get it going soon..

I hate that PT is gone and it looks like they really are gone now. Since I dont have a hobby shop Im not going to say how I could have done it better. Maybe I would have folded too. It happens to too many shops/Tracks.
yeah I liked that track and still dont see why its not one of the best places to race on-road in GA?...but if things change, you can count on some of us TN guys to attend some of your races...

ps..you still have your stuff?

I have an Xray 007 for sale with some aluminum parts. Perfect for a VTA car.

Just search my user name in the sale forum

Hey guys I need some set up help. I am running a TC5 with the ITF chassis and upper deck. It seems really hard to get the car to be consistant with the vintage tires. Help! I am going to try the stock rubber tire set up this weekend and see what it does. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im doing pretty good with my TC5-R car in VTA...Im running the box stock rubber tire setup....some might have some better setups..but Ive found this to be a real good starting point...are you on carpet or asphalt?

also the tires are, well....different if you are coming from foam..you want get the same effect...

i have been using gorilla tape all year i think it works better than shoe-goo cost less. have ran only one body this year in vta (cuda) looks pretty bad but is not broken i have hit everything, been upside down and backwards.i run this stuff in all my kids car bodys last a lot longer. we run 6 cars have not lost any bodys. if you do get a rip put a little tape on it from the inside and it's good as new. it is a little heavy but not alot heavier than shoe-goo and tape.

Tried the spool last week and lost several tenths on overall lap. The spool was better at the end of the strait but only there. Everywhere else the one-way was better. With the one-way you have to let out of it right before the timing loop and the wider you set yourself up the better. As soon as you see the car is going to be properly positioned for the apex start rolling back on throttle. You should watch your laptimes to determine what's best for you.

With that said Nick's TC5 is really good with a diff and I've ran 7.2s with it at the track which matches my 7.2s in the Type R.

7.2's in VTA!!! That must either be a small track or a fast layout. Last night on our small/technical layout the fast guys were averaging 9 second laps during the main.

I was only out for 1:02 in the A-Main but I set the only laptime under 9 seconds! I'll get 'em next week, though. Car was a beast for being the debut of the 007.
