I have a coupe of old/ near new HPI pro2s just sittin on the shelf. They were nice cars, smooth as can be and belt drive quite. Anybody racing these? If so , how do they work?

I have a couple of the Pro2's that I love for durability, but I don't like how narrow the chassis's are. They work ok, but I find my TC3's easier to drive, and easier to fit the radio equipment in.

If you decided you want to part w/ a Pro2 though, I know my son might be interested. (He needs a DURABLE car)

I'm still using mine. I like the fact that its built like a tank and easy to drive.

Question for someone. A friend of mine and I were practicing on our track (90x36) getting ready to run VTA at the gate this coming weekend, He was using a 21.5/LIPO and I was using the 17.5/4 cell variety. He utterly destoryed me on the straight even from astanding start. I was using a FDR of 3.5 and he was using the max that he could (4.23), my question is how was the 21.5/LIPO FDR figured out or is my gearing that far off and if so any suggestion for an FDR?

Thanks

Although not new they were not an abused pack like I normally run, they were taken care of by the owner of the 21.5.

Truthfully I'd rather buy a 21.5 if I didn't have to.

Well you are going to have a hard time, they aren't really matching much 4 cell stuff with lipo in all of the 6cell classes anymore. But yeah either finding fresh sticks is prolly your best bet. You might need to re gear or advance your timing on the motor to get the straigtaway speed you are looking for.

BTW I built my first Trans Am car today and ran some laps at the track, 21.5 lipo was my setup and I really enjoyed it. Big smile all day, I think I might actually have some interest, so if anyone in the Cincinnati area wants to run some trans am racing. Come to Tri-State Raceway

We should kick off our first race 11/02/08

Mike brings up a good point. You should make sure the timing is maxed out on the motor, especially if you use a Novak ESC, which has no electronic timing advance.

Kregger, I ran a 27t/4cell combo for a few months and was geared at a 5.55 fdr in a T2R xray. The motor was a co27 that had been abused in 6cell tc for a year or so. Our track is usually 100x 70 in a parking lot. The car was actually faster down the straight than the 21.5 cars and only mildly weaker out of the corners. For your track size, I think you might over geared.

Hey Big Mike. Do you think you can get those guys to race VTA in Joyce park next summer? Thats a pretty big track. I guess you will be running carpet this winter for the VTA stuff.

Im in GA but I have family up that way.

they did run some electric at joyce this summer, not sure who and what, but it would be cool with them, the club is very freindly, but I don't think a 3 lap race would be that fun to watch, would need like 3.5 and 8000mah on that big track, lol

Kstarr, hey whats up bud, are you in the area, refresh me, gimme a pm

The best bet for a VTA race at Joyce Park might be to use the parking lot. I do know in the past they had a way to shorten the main straight for electic cars.
