Back a'cha, Allan.

BTW guys, the website has been updated with Trackside Trans Am photos from Big Daddy Boomer. Some great shots, for sure.

If you have photos from your local track, please send them along. We'll post them on the website.

Also, who else is planning on running the Michiana race next Sunday with Trans Am?

Just a quick update, we added a new track to our participating tracks list:

The Track
16806 Oakmont Avenue
Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877
301-417-9630
[email protected]

Trans Am races are Sundays, races beginning at 1:00pm.
See website for detailed schedule dates and hours.

Remember, if your track or club is going to be running this class in your weekly races, let us know so we can add you to the list. Even if you have varied your rules slightly, we can post that in the listing to make sure everyone knows that the rules are different.

2008 ROAR Carpet On-Road Nationals host HobbyPlex in Omaha, Ne is running a Trans-Am class using the rules you have set out. We may be experimenting with some weight "rewards" but other than that we have allowed some other motor combos while people get their cars set up, but those are just short term exceptions for now (lipos with Stinger motors). Running both Sundays and Wednesday evenings. We are up to 8 cars with more on the way!!

Default 4 Cell 27T roll-out

Hi,

I apologize if this has been covered already. I'm looking for a ballpark rollout for four cell and brushed 27T. On six cells, the correct rollout is somewhere around 27-28mm (so I'm hoping there's a rule-of-thumb amount of rollout to add to the six cell number). This is for a medium size carpet track. Thanks.

Indoor carpet track...27T brushed with rubber tires, 4 cells...it was 6.0 final drive. I don't use rollout....

Don't bother with calculating rollout—the tires are all the same for everyone. Final drive ratio for 4-cell brushed motors is right in the area of 6.0 to be in the ballpark. I found my car worked the best in the area of 5.9 FDR, but you really need to be smooth with the momentum of the car. 6.0 to 6.1 FDR give you a little more off the bottom if you have a lot of slow corners.

Thanks! That will move me from a 7.1 FDR to a 6.0 FDR. Definitely sounds like a good starting point.
