honestly, it makes me afraid to stay near the batter now when its charging..
i've seen so many of these post, and most of them tends to blame the person changing these batts.. but really?? if one charges it at normal rate, and takes care of it like a average racer, will it ever explode like this?

You are not safe even with EP's. Saw an EP blow up on Friday at the club race. Reportedly charged at 6 amps.

My theory.......
As we saw the picture, the weather was cold.
While charging, near the peak, inner battery was hot.
The battery surface was still cool.
The thermo sensor of the charger attached on the battery surface and of course detect only the surface temperature.
The battery overcharged, then it happened the explotion.
Maybe.....???
