Around The Table With Paul Lemieux(RC-America/Thunderpower)

Thanks Paul. I will have a few more question as I go along gettign my new car (which brand will not be named) ready. Would brushlesss be good for a new racer or does it have to much power. My current setup accerlates too slow, altough I think that might be gearing, not really sure.

Lees52: I see what you are saying. The season why i stated this to Mshap33 is because you have to get it close before you can even tume on it. I know how his rear end is set up, so i told him what camber link i think has the best traction/consistency for his set up. he said that his car was getting real loose in the center of the corner and right away i assumed/without seeing that he left out the 2mm shim for more camber gain in the rear. for the most part i think you are right about what you said. more gain should add a little more chassis roll, but when you think about it , more chassis roll equals less gain because if you are rolled over farther your tire will be more stud up, so basicly everything effects the other.
I think that with rubber tires you have to know your set up, and what these changes do to your car specifically.
If someone told me that i was right 70% of the time on here i would be very happy. but always try the stuff and get back to me, I will be wrong alot.
And if i didnt answer your question please ask again.
Thanks paul

Roly: Hey man, yea i dont know even yet if i will be their. hope to see ya, paul
KB: yea, i dont have one of those.
Racingboy14: What do they race at your local track? 13.5 is like 19t brushed speed, 17.5 is about the same speed as a 27t brushed. Brushless is good but if you are just working on driving now and dont want to spend the money its ok to wait. do what ever you think will be the most fun but make sure their is compitition in what you choose at your track, you will improove fastest if you are getting your butt kicked ( as long as you dont get discouraged!!). Make sure that dosent happen. everyone wants to win all the time but you will have plenty of time for that later.. and Its ok that you dont have an Xray their is plenty of time for that also

Dustin: Hi, In my foam cars i run the Futaba 9351, and in my rubber cars i normally run the 9550. the new brushless version of the 9351 is very nice also. No problem, paul

thanks alot paul! At my local track we just started a 17.5 class which has gotten alot of takers. I usuualy run in that class but I am still like 5 laps off the leaders pace and 2 laps off the person right in front of me place wise. I know I need practice so I your right I will stayed brushed and not ry and get discouraged too much.

Paul, have you ran a 17.5 at all? Just trying to get a feel for how they will stack up against a CO27 for nats. Thanks!
#458
Nhra: No i have not, i have only been able to watch them. I dont really have an opinion of what will be the better of the two. I kinda have a feeling that the co27 will be faster but dont quote me on that.
Their has to be someone that has tested it specifically for the up coming nats. If so please post here.

paul,
i know your style well enough but weve never talked about rear roll. on all you carpet and nitro setups the rear of your car rolls around alot. tell me where it rolls and how it feels in the corner (entrance, middle, exit). Im just curious what your thought process.
thanks,
"A" class pitguy

minitoink: I really dont know, but ill find out for us.
Dustin: the 9351 is a much higher torque servo, i used to use the 9550 short case in all my tc's. In recent months with brushless getting so fast i think for Mod Foam it dosen't have the needed torque for the very high speed sections. in rubber i use the 9550 because i think it has proper torque for your average med traction rubber tire track. so with the combination of speed and traction (foams) i think a stronger servo is needed. It may be needed for rubber soon also.
Lightsout: yea i like cars that push on center (not twitchy) and normally that means soft. everytime i run the rear of my FOAM car stiff (over 22lbs) my car feels darty to me and i dont ever have much success driving that way.
I do think that it is a driving style thing, I watch alot of other pro's do it the opposite way and it works for them. but if the rear of my car rolls alot and i somehow find steering i am always fast, but after getting the rear to roll alot it is almost impossible to get the steering you need to go fast. That is why i have struggled at alot of races in the past year or so, other guys have found a way of getting steering in a way that they are comfortible with , wear as i look for a feel that 90 out of 100 times wont have the proper steering.

Last weekend we ran a 13.5 a 27T and a 17.5 at the same time to see the difference between them. The 27T is def faster than the 17.5 and the 13.5 beat both of them. I run a T2 007 and had the 17.5 in it. I had it rolled out at 48mm.I ran a 104 tooth spur and a 44 tooth pinion on a 80x32 track. We all had a clean run and there was a lap between each motor. If you have a choice between the 17.5 or the 27T go with the 27T.
