Default What things are you looking forward to most in 2008...

Some people thought the 2007 year in review stuff was too negative. So what things are people looking forward to in 2008 (or wishes for 2008)?

- The continued adoption of brushless and lipo
- Brushless motor standards
- The electic on-road community reunite and grow the hobby!

It's simple for me, I'm looking forward to getting back into it after having everything stolen in late 2006. Plus I'm still holding out hope that 1/12th has a revival.

Cars designed for lipo. Good call. I guess that would also mean some rough standardization around sizes for lipo packs. The current packs are designed around the cars. I wonder what kind of things you could do the other way around?

Ike, welcome back. Sorry to hear about getting everything stolen.

Default good thread

For myself, in 2008 I would like to see the gains in lipo/brushless from 2007 continue. I would also like to see more battery and motor down the middle cars, aside from the losi/team magic cars. Another improvement I would like to see once lipo/brushless takes hold is longer races. With 4000 lipos and 13.5 brushless, races can be 8 minutes easily.

For R/C in general, I would like to see electric on-road racing make a comeback to the levels it was at 5 years ago. I would like to see roar add more fun classes (even though I know the purpose of roar is to prepare us racers for the ifmar worlds,) such as tamiya mini.

For R/C suppliers, I would like to see more honesty about products and an end to no customer service, defective products, and a buyer beware mentality.

I would like the see lipo and brushless take off even more and the rules open up so all brands from all companies can run instead of the same old stuff run from the same old companies. Tired of rules cattering to one or two companies all the time. Maybe more open rules would get more involved.

Just overall I would like to see racing get back to levels of many years ago with large turnouts.

The biggest thing I would like to see more people get along with less bitching and moaning at every track you go to anymore. Lets face it these are still toys, though very expensive ones mainly toys to 95% of us. Racing was so much more fun 10, 15, and 20 years ago thats for sure.

Exactly..... make this fun again, save the tracks that are left. Get the manufacturers together to assist.

For 2008, I would like to see

ROAR have a record increase in the amount of members.

A ROAR National Title actually mean something again.

R/C Mfg's work on getting themselves aligned in the market with their manufacturing and for once do something that is RIGHT for the RACERS instead of pitting racer against racer in defense of THIER products.

ONE certified set of Standards for Brushless Motors - locked in for a minimum of 3 years.

ONE certified set of Standards for both NiMh AND Lipo batteries, locked in for a minimum of 2 years.

A return to a Standardized VOLTAGE for 1/10th scale electric racing 'WORLDWIDE'

More "GRASS ROOTS" Parking Lot races. (Return the hobby to where it started...so hopefully it can GROW again, and do it RIGHT this time)

A 'unified' idea on how to have classes 'ENTRY LEVEL' racers can drive and have FUN with w/o taking a 2nd mortgage on their houses.

MORE Video Coverage (Live or Taped) of big races...available 'on the net'

Tekin's SENSORED/BRUSHLESS ESC.

Ever seen that show "Pinks" on speed? Maybe they should do an RC edition. I think there are some RC cars worth more then some of the cars on there.
