Axiom Motor Question
I've just purchased an Axiom Komodo-based motor to run in my tourer (XRay T2). I normally run the Trinity motor and gear it at 5.95 (24/84) on rubber tyres on a large outdoor track. Where should I gear the Axiom motor (same, higher, lower)? Are there any tricks to getting that bit more out of it?

The xxx brushes will no doubt eat into the commutator a little quicker, so keep on top of the skimming. The pro version has all the tweaks done to it, so you're good to go

I used my new Axiom motor yesterday. Other car problems prevented me from comparing it with my Trinity motor over 5 minutes but I did record my fastest lap of the day with the Axiom motor. Got into the lead in one qualifier but I lost it when I made a mistake and then my front belt flipped over, resulting in partial 2WD. Both were geared the same (5.95:1).
I think I'll repeat my testing next meet when I have my drive train sorted out (all belts and pulleys replaced).

I used an Axiom Altas Blue 19 turn for the first time yesterday and I was impressed. I got my LHS who I race for to stock them as well, so I am glad they turned out well. Even with some now fairly tired EP4200 cells I still placed well in the A.

I have a question regarding the running of XXX brushes with this motor (or any other similar motor for that fact). I am using it in a 1:10 tourer on a large open track.
I was running the Trinity XXX brushes (TRI13506NT) in this motor and my other Komodo (the Trinity Pro version) I have. In the Axiom motor I was running the installed purple/purple springs. My other Trinity Komodo has the standard red/green springs.
I have been told that I need to use really stiff springs when running these brushes (silver/silver). Is this the case? Won't that just cause more drag and cause the motor to be slower?

You could use a harder brush and spring: http://rctouring.eu/electric_motor_set_up.htm
