I've got some questions about setup for my TC. I'm just looking for general guidelines to go by.

First, sway bar settings. Generally speaking does stiffer sway bars give more or less traction?

Roll center. Does moving the camber link to a new hole change roll center? Moving it up or down on the shock tower does what to traction?

Rear toe. Does more rear toe (ie -2*) give more or less traction?

The link will take you to the Xray site. On the page the 2nd downloadable item "XRAY T2 Set-Up Book" is a PDF of the Set-Up book.. Which is a great overview for Touring Car Set-up.. Extremely well written regarding what chassis changes and how those changes affect the cars handling.. It's specific to XRAY T2, but most all the touring cars today use a similiar suspension layout.

At the bottom of the page is a "Cheat Sheet" that's nice to have handy too. "XRAY T2 Quick Reference Table" When you open this up, scroll down and you'll find a very handy "Cheat Sheet" on what to change when your car is over or under steering..

ok allot of questions there. I'll answer as best as I can, look at this site. It's a real technical site with lots of good information. It's not just a set-up for one RC car but basicly a good guild line to go by for all.

A stiffer sway bar will generally give you less traction because what it is doing is not allowing the suspension to roll. By not allowing it to roll it's not allowing it to put weight on the outside tires while cornering. Your car is constantly balancing whether braking, cornering or accelerating.

Roll center does change with Camber link location. Check that site for Chapter 2, it has an awesome explaination. Also Roll Center changes by placing shims underneath the ball studs. Your Roll Center ( Camber Link locations ) will effect the amount of Camber change during your suspension travel. ( up and down )

Rear Toe end will settle your back end, give you some more traction. I wouldnt go over 2 degrees.

The important thing to remember is this. Your car is under constant balance, your front end and the back end. What ever you do to one end will have an effect on the other. As they preach do one change at a time and test it.

Which car do you have?

sway bars reduce grip on that end

Higher up on the shock tower gives more grip

more toe in gives more grip

Be careful in what you change mind,only change one or two things at a time as MOST changes also have a negative effect aswell as a postive one....

You probably already know this, but be sure to start with a straight chassis and equal length shocks. Also, journal your changes. It's easy to get lost in all the adjustments these cars have. Most manufacturers have blank setup .pdf's on their websites--get one.
