LiPo fitment thread

Right, we know the 'sculptured' LiPo packs (such as the Orion 3200 and 3600) fit in most current touring car chassis with a small amount of filing to the case, but what about the bigger Orion 4800 and Trakpower 4900 packs?

Post what you've found and any mods you had to do to fit one of these packs into the car, using the template below:

Chassis used:
Battery used:
Mods needed:
If you use this template, I'll add yours to the list in alphabetical order.

----------------------------------

I'll start with what I know and have tried:

Confirmed:

Chassis used: AE TC5
Battery used: Orion 4800
Mods needed: None

Car used:AE FT TC3/4
Battery used: Orion 4800/3200
mods needed: None

Chassis Used: Corally RDX
Battery Used: Orion 3200

Chassis used: Kyosho TF5 Stallion
Battery used: Orion 4800, Max Amps 6000
Mods needed: None

Chassis Used: Losi JRXS Type-R
Battery Used: Orion 4800, Orion 3200
Mods Needed: None

Chassis Used: Losi JRXS Type-R
Battery Used: Trakpower 4900 (gold bar)
Mods Needed: Top deck requires some filing to allow access to the connectors on top of the pack. They're offset inward more than the Orion 4800.

Chassis used: Schumacher Mi3
Battery used: Orion 4800
Mods needed: Shorter centre track rod (CTR)

Chassis used: Schumacher Mi3
Battery used: Core 5000mAh
Mods needed: Shorter centre track rod (CTR) moved forward 1 hole.
Small slot cut into packs hardcasing to allow the balance tap cable to come out the end instead of the top. Trakpower will fit under bulkheads..JUST, but the bulkheads cover one of the 4mm connectors at the end of the pack. Some people have just mounted the pack at an angle or put the pack on it's side.

Chassis used: Schumacher MI3
Battery used: Trackpower 4900
Mods needed: Batt needs to be taped in at an angle, the inside connector is covered by the bulkhead at the rear.

Chassis used: Serpent S400
Battery used: Team Orion 3200
Mods: A little bit of dremeling to the battery side topdeck mount

Chassis used: Tamiya TA04R
Battery used: Orion 3200
Mods needed: Grind battery compartment. Will fit if some pressure is applied but once in the slot it is very hard to remove battery.

Chassis used: Tamiya TA-05

Chassis used: Tamiya TT01
Battery used: Orion 4800
Mods needed: The notches between the cell slots on one side of the chassis have to be removed - I used a Dremel.

Chassis used: X-ray FK04
Battery used: Orion 3200
Mods needed: I placed the battery on the right side of the chassis and had to cut a notch(used a body scissors) in the case to allow clearance of the rear bulk head. Moved the servo to the left side.

Chassis used: Xray T2
Battery used: Orion 3200
Mods needed: The center plastic cell place-holders need to be removed, and the inside cell place-holders on the ends need some dremeling.

Chassis Used:Xray T2 007 EU
Battery Used: Peak/Orion 4800
Mods Needed:
- .5mm shim to raise the top deck
- .5mm shim needed to remove the servo saver slop from raising the top deck
- battery sits slightly foreward unless you either cut a notch on the battery hard case or dremel down the battery side topdeck mount.
- battery tape is the only way to go unless you either cut a notch on the battery or dremel down the battery side topdeck mount.

Chassis used: Xray T2 007 US
Battery used: Orion 3200
Mods needed: I removed part of the layshaft support (part # 303019) with a dremel. In order to continue using the battery strap, I shimmed it up using a 1mm shim under each end. Outside battery backstops are removed, inside backstops are rounded with a dremel.

Chassis Used: Xray T2 '007 US & EU Spec
Battery Used: Orion 4800 and equal size or larger
Mods Needed: http://nexusracing.net/newsdesk_info...661ba9b0e35935

Battery used:Demon 5000
Mods needed:none

Chassis used: Yokomo BD
Battery used:Trackpower 4900
Mods needed: Grind back bulkhead

No fit:

Team Magic E4 - connectors covered.

Other:

Other: TRF415 Family - "Original 415 and MS should be Ok in terms of fitment for all types, the top deck is high enough, although clearance for connectors may be an issue.
MSX onwards, 3200/3600 should fit, although may require some material to be removed from the case to allow fittment under the right rear bulkhead (either that or dremel away the nice blue bulkhead... ). I should be able to confirm this myself in a bit... first LiPo is on it's way (carbon 3200)

4800 or similar... don't fit without the stick pack chassis bulkhead option, and at the moment, can't for the life of me remember the part number!"

Other: "The TRF416 appears to have been designed with clearance for the Orion 4800 sized pack, as reported by a member of this forum that tried it for himself. Presumably, the 3200 will work as well."

Other: "XRay have a report on their site that the EU Spec T2'008 will work with the Orion 4800 and Orion 3200 packs. The US Spec will only work (without modification) with the Orion 3200 packs."

I got a antique... ftTC4. Anyone still running this chassis, lol and tried any lipos?

luic 12-01-2007 12:33 PM

With your permission, I copied the thread, to cochesrc website translated into Spanish, which I think is very helpful.

Greetings, Luis C.

I built a 3p 2s a123 saddle pack and dropped in right in to my car. Zip ties & the battery mounting posts keep it in place.
