Yokomo Custom or Schumacer SST ??
 

HiGuys,

need some advise, I have the budget to buy either of these cars, but could not decide ... both looks good and have good history too ..... appreciate any help :)

btw LHS has support for these two brands

What's the Yokomo custom?

I have a bias opinion, but I don't want it to influence your decision since they are both nice cars, but here are some things to consider while you are trying to decide:

1. Which one do you consider is faster out of the box without requiring a lot of expensive hop-ups?

2. Which one is more durable?

3. Which one is easy to work on?

4. What kind of batteries are you going to buy. I think the SST uses saddle packs while the Yokomo uses side-by-side and stick packs.

I only know of one Yokomo Custom. It have been used a lot for over year by now in our club. It have been very durable, fast and the owner is satisfied. Good value for money.

I would say go for the car that has a hobby shop providing good parts support.

For example, you can't go wrong with Tamiya in singapore. Most hobby shops carry tamiya stuff. You definitely do not want to run a car, allow it to break down and wait months for parts to arrive.

If for example you decide to run an exotic car without parts support then prepare for an overseas ordering exercise every few months or so =0

My opinion between the two is, i won't choose either. Firstly, Yokomo has a new car out, the SD. However I don't keep up to date with r/c equipment nowadays, so I'm not sure if they share parts. So if they don't, the supply for Custom/MR4TC parts will probably be decreased, no?

Schumacher on the other hand I've no experience, so, no comments.

You cant go wrong with a schumacher (you mean axis, axis2 or mission i assume) they are very durable and have a superb handling, i have had 3 schumachers, and after all full speed crashes all that was broken on 3 cars in total was a driveshaft and a bumper.

Was the Yokomo MR-4TC Custom released before the Pro kit? That is going years back in technology if so... Definately give the new SD car a look.

1: As somebody else said, local support are the main factor.

2: Another one assumed Axis, Axis2 or Mission. Since it's compared with the Custom, I believe the Schumacher you're talking about, is a Sport version? Please tell...
