This class is relatively new but very popular and getting bigger at Scotty Ernst home track Trackside and also at another Midwest track called 'The Track'

New Class=TRANS AM
1 Attachment(s)
New Class we are running here in Billings, MT.
It is patterned after the old Trans Am racing of the mid to late 60's and the early 70's. We have had 3 races ( every other Sunday) and the class is the fastest growing. Scottrik of our club is the one who put it together. HPI Vintage bodies HPI Vintage tires and wheels 4 cell weight penalty for top 3 places after each A main. Check out the pics and full details at www.magiccityrc.com Look under Trans Am God Bless Bryan |
WOW! What a great idea! I really wish there was enough people locally to try something like this. Stock Touring has goton a little out of hand in recent years, so its nice to see something that puts it back in the drivers hands. Bravo to whoever came up with this class!

heh! pretty sweet!

I like this idea! It adds a personal touch.

I grew up around the Trans Am (My dad was an SCCA Official assigned to the TA series in the 70s and early 80s). It is great to see a group of racers paying respect to that legendary series.
 guys! |
Yeah, this class is just about the most fun I've had in RC in a LONG time.
We've been discussing it off and on on RC Tech at http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=172773 since mid-summer. The key to this, so far, has been the weight penalty to ensure competitive balance and thus far it is working. A T2 has won the last two races after missing the first round but a tub-chassis TC3 is currently first place in points followed by a double-deck conversion (Warpspeed) TC3. |

we have also been running this class at our local track but we call it Nostalgia class http://www.ovrccc.com/

What an awesome idea guys.
We're having a tough enough time running a rubber class at my local track... wish we could do something like this. Kudos to the person/people that got this going. Let's hope it picks-up even more. I love the AAR Cuda in the pic. |
We tried that at a track in northern Indiana last year. Absolutly no intrest.
Wish it woulda worked for us. Looks awesome |
