Default Help! My Rooster is a Chicken!

Hey guys, I need some advice. I have just brought a brand new

Novak Rooster 12t esc. I fitted to my car, set it up as per

the instructions. I goes forward and reverse as normal, but then

after running it for a little the car stops. Wait about 5 seconds

and away it goes again, then it happens all over again. All the

red and green lights work as they should, I still have steering

etc. When I fit my Futaba mc330cr esc it works like clockwork,

doesnt miss a beat.

Any ideas???

the rooster may be fitted with low voltage cutoff..
nimhs cant hold the voltage like lipo can..

when you take off. you might bring your six cell pack down to five volts. which is too low for a normal lipo pack. where as when you take off with a lipo pack its much more efficient. and can keep the voltage up while providing the power at the same time.
kinda like haveing a really good matched pack with low internal resistance..

sorry for not making sense..
can somone explain the whole nimh vs lipo voltage drop thing

check to see if low voltage cutoff is on

.... EDIT.....see i had a feeling it had low voltage cutoff

When the original Rooster debuted way back in 1993, it was Novak’s first ESC with the now standard One-Touch Set-Up feature. The new Rooster 12T has the honor of being first again with another great new feature: built-in Li-Po cutoff protection. Novak’s newest technology monitors the vehicle’s Lithium Polymer battery pack’s voltage, and prevents the batteries from going below the critical safety voltage level. The driver is cued via throttle blips when the voltage drops to a certain level. It then shuts off, however, full control of the steering servo is left intact. The Li-Po cutoff protection feature can be utilized in two of the four throttle profiles the Rooster 12T now has:

I had the same problem with my LRP Sphere Comp 2007 when i first put it in my 4wd. After reading the instructions i changed the profile because it was set to lipo cutoff by default.

Well I think its fixed. After triple checking everything to make

sure it was correctly installed, I ended up removing the rz motor

and soldering on the two extra capacitors onto the motor, from

the negative to the can, and from the positive to the can (including
the one from positive to negative).

I then reset the esc and ran the car, it behaved alot better, but

after around two minutes it played up again. So in all dispare I

removed the factory fitted capacitor from the rz and run it again.

I have now run two intellect 4200mah batt packs through it until

they dumped, and it has performed perfectly. Lets hope it stays

this way. Thank you guys for all of your tips!!
