Default Chassis designers please look!

Hi guys, could I ask what computer programs chassis designers use to plot out their design? I saw the attached picture somewhere but what is the program? I have a few ideas regarding 1/12th circuit cars and would like to use a program like the one in the picture to have it made from. Thanks for any help guys, all the best, Chris.

I use AutoCAD but thats mainly for 2D stuff and drawing stuff to be cut (seamlessly imports into the cutting software)

For 3D stuff, I use Solidworks or Pro/E. Solidworks is more user friendly.

AutoCad to do a rough outline/ideas and Mastercam to finalize and produce. If you are doing stuff with a drill press and saw download eMachineShop (free), draw out what you want, and then print it 1:1.

All the factory engineers and designers I know in the US use Solidworks.

Unigraphics is used throughout the auto and airline industry.

Not one of the design systems out there is worth a crap if you don't know how to use it.

I agree with that.. I have auto cad on my comp, i got an old pc from my buddies work.. Ive done a few custom cars, but i havent figured out how to use it lOL. still have to have my buddy do the work.. It is nice because he can do the drawing, and i can open files when they are sent to me..but thats about as much as i know on it..

I doubt you will be able to get Catia. Apparently it costs thousands

the cheapest design programs you can get are Autocad LT and Intellicad (used to be free). those programs are great for doing 2D drawings, but not much else.

most all of the Cad/Cam systems are thousands of dollars. They range anywhere from 5,000-20,000. The easiest way to mess around would be Autocad LT. 2D drawing will be fine for this application
