xray belt tension???

I've been through my setup book and instruction manual and can't seem to find any info on how tight the front and rear drive belts should be?

I can't seem to get enough slack in the gear lash for my pinoin spur mesh.. I have a 114t spur and 38t pinion.. Any suggestions...

Total newbie here.. I tried searching here as well but went through many pages with little info..

TIA

What motor and tires are you running?
If foam tires, how big are they?
How big is the track you are running on?
114/38 is a LOT of gear and will most likely cause damage to your motor.

Adjusting your belt tension will not give you more space for gearing.
I run my belts as loose as possible with out them skipping.

The gearing came with the car already.. Motor gets only lukewarm.. 120 or so if that.. It's an lrp sphere tc esc with novak 13.5.. Running rp30's on carpet.. Small track.. I think the final drive came out somewhere around 5.10 I might try loosening the belts a hair.. I got the slack in the gears adjusted now.. I'm one notch back now on the front belt.. I'll return it too the middle slot.. Ocassionally when the diff was in the middle slot the belt would rollover on itself and be kinda inside out on the top part of the car.. That would be too loose right? I might have to replace the drive belt and try again...

Ok, I have not messed with brushless yet so I'm not sure where you should be on gearing but your temps sound fine.

If your belt is rolling over tightening the belt will help but changing the belt is the true cure.

The drive belts will want about 1/2 inch of play in the front and 1/4 inch in the rear. The belts rolling over is probably due to something hitting it. Is your battery secured properly?

The total number of teeth that will fit in a T2007 is 150.

You can pick up smaller spur gears here:

I was running a 108/36 on a 13.5 novak sintered motor and was coming off the track at 150ish degrees on 60mm foams.

Hope this helps!

thanks for the info all.. When you say .5" of play do you mean side to side or up and down? I'm still learning how not to crash so I'm going to keep the gearing for now unless it starts to get too hot..

up/down.

If the belts are new, the center location for the diff mounts will most likely be optimum.
