I am not sure for outdoor asphalt (for your DE challenge) the center post is necessary....I don't run mine for outdoor mod.........I use the pole for carpet only.
Try my setup, its SOO good, it works EVERYWHERE, and its close to the kit setup.. Theres only one track i've ever been to that it doesnt work (ripon speedway in california)
Front
springs gold, silver sway bar, 50wt oil, #3 piston, second hole on shock tower, 3mm spacing on the inside camber link, 1.5 inboard toe block, 4degree caster, 1 degree camber, 6mm droop (measured on HPI droop guage)... rollcenter: 1mm spacing under all blocks
Rear
silver springs, no sway bar, 40wt oil, #3 piston, outer most hole on shock tower, 2.5mm spacing on inner camber link, 3deg toe, 1 deg camber, 5mm droop (measured on HPI droop guage)... roll center: anti squat, 1mm under the front block, .7mm under the rear block
mazda 6 body, either a spool or one way will work with this setup but you may need to soften the front springs when using a spool

Guys, I recommend the 2mm chassis for asphalt racing, the flex gives you noticeably more amount of traction (obviously)
Either that, or i was just used to all the tweak my old chassis plate had... wow a fresh chassis is such a relief!

Zombies.......do you think it is worth it to upgrade the bevel gears to the HARA alum 1 piece version...? About $40 shipped from HK...not cheap, but if they can eliminate the chance to get stripped gear (if shim correctly), I think I will get them....thanks

one-piece bevel gear in the rear is not needed. for the front..all depends who you talk to... I have it..but it runs noisy. may switch back to the plastic ones... runs smoother... and haven't stripped any v1.1 gears yet.

Thanks for you opinion, you just saved me $40... Just for my reference, do you recall how many shims you did (F/R) on your diff, and on your bevel pinion input shaft (F/R)......? I know I did MORE then what the manual said, and I thought they are OK, except, I keep stripping gears....

my shimming is close to the stock set-up.
you don't want it tight...there should be a little play.
