Yep, problem one sounds like shimming.Try to eliminate the play in the front. It may take some custom shimming to tighten the mesh...and you may not have quite as free a driveline ,but it helps save gears.

Problem 2 simple.....

A. get the heavy duty drive cups or put a lil plastic under the drive cup to tighten them up!

B. and this will help with problem one also....Stop hitting stuff.

Think about where the energy goes when you tap something. The ball cups on the rear absorb all the energy form a hit.The cup under the tire cannot pop off so the inside cup pops off.

1st problem almost everytime the car is drivin we will break the front bevel gears its like the teeth just fall off even without any hits to the car

2nd this is really enoying the rear pivot ball on top of the rear hub after a few small taps to the rear wheels they shear off in the hub this is happening to everone I know even Nick Morris the top mod driver in Canberra

I heard you can now get alloy bevel gears but they are very pricy are they worth it and will alloy rear hubs make a difference to the pivot balls breaking off

thanks guys
Ok problem 1, the bevel gear is not shimed right, try shiming it a little tighter, also give the TC3 bevel gear a shot, i run mod with a spool up front and it has lasted 2 months now, a lot better than the HPI one ever did for me.

Problem 2, I have not had happen at all, and i have been racing my pro4 for more than a year now.
as for the alloy bevel gear, if shimming the diff tighter wont fix it try the TC3 gear seems to be a lot stronger,

drifting? sounds like a traction problem. Check ur diffs by holding ur spur gear and turning one wheel and holding the other down, if they don't move then it should be alright.

it could also be that your diff is to tight, and the rear end is just spinning when u hit the gas. I find that my car runs best if the rear diff is a little looser when i run mod.

I'm running 48 pitch gears, and when the pinion isn't in, the car is dead quiet, but once the pinion goes in, it sounds like a tank is rolling through town. Is it just the motor resistance? My mesh isn't tight at all, there is a good amount of play between the spur and pinion, but it isn't slipping at all... Any ideas?

josh69162 - Carefully look in-between the teeth of both the spur and pinion for a small grain of sand. That can make a weird sound..

dontfeelcold - Did you ever fig out your understeer problem?

Snowy.

I don't remember what brand the spur is. The pinion is a fresh Robinson 25 tooth. Both gears have really good looking teeth, nice and sharp. They are both very clean, with no dirt. How quiet are your cars? Maybe I'm just over reacting.
