would the original pro4 with 3mm top plate and chassis be better for carpet and then grab an 05 spec for asphalt?

Yes. 3mm upperdeck will definately stiffen the chassis.

there is a guy at my track that is going to sell me his pro4 with both 2.5mm chassis and top plate and 3mm chassis and top plate with bunch of parts and what not for 300 and so i wanted to know if i should grab that up for carpet racing since is has both 2.5mm and 3mm chassis and top plate and then get a 05 for the days i run on asphalt as the 05 would probably be better for pavement

i would go with the one for 300... extra chassis costs a lot of money, especially 3.0 mm. you will change chassis, i don't think it is reasonable to have another pro4, unles you can afford without any problems

yea..sounds like a very good deal..especailly with 2.5, 3.0mm chassis and upperdeck.
to run asphalt all you'll need is install the 2.5mm chassis and the newly released 2.25mm upperdeck.
but like Exe said..if money is no object...might as well get the 05 or Hara Kit also... while you're at it... want to buy me one too...

Default chassis flex

Hi Guys

Could someone explain to me please, why lateral flex in a chassis is a good thing>

I would have thought as in a 1:1 car that the stiffer the chassis the better as it allows the suspension to do its job properly.

Surely given the correct spring/shock/oil it would be better to have no flex, as flex only aids an untuned chassis??

I'm fairly new to the tech side of r/c so would appreciate a good explanation.

I run the 2004 spec 1.1 pro4 in std trim except for square and hpi alloy parts on asphalt with foams and wonder what the benefit would be of going to a lighter chassis.

Thanks

Geoff
