Picture from the TITC. You can kind of see a motor mounted like the 415 on the car in front of the guy between Hara and Karn.

That guy is not a nobody, he is Masayuki Miura, Hotbodies' designer, ex Tamiya designer/driver (He's one of the TRF414 developer and who is probably better known as Surikarn's mentor).

It's definitely not Hara's car because he's running the Pro4 in that race...

Oh well...........

But anyway if I'm not wrong, that prototype is a Hotbodies car, not HPI.

Guys,
Which Pinion gears are you guys using, I plan to race stock right now. I have a used Pro 4 but no pinion gear. Also I forgot which is for higher top speed...a final ratio of 9.75 or 4.97
Thanks
John

all depends on what motor you're using..type of track.. high speed or technical.
if monster stock...final drive ratio of around 7.0

Let us know what type of track...asphault/carpet and roughly the size....rubber tires/foam?

More people might be able to give you a better starting point that way.

For stock motors I would use the following

Trinity Monster Stock or EPIC ROAR stock

Kintetix was some really good prices on tuned versions of these motors...

The lower the final ratio, the quicker top speed the car will have.

Well that sucks
Oh, well.
I guess I'll be getting that Xray then.
But I will put HPI stickers all over it and Lie when people ask what it is.
I'm really looking forward to having my pro4 and a belt. I was going to get the 415 but I have never owned an xray so I thought of giving it a chance.

however, I'm still holding out to hear that Karn was hired to secretly develope a new car for hpi!!! ahhh, one can dream.

I too am contimplating on getting the new Xray. and looked forward to a HPI shaft and belt cars.... I think they will... just a matter of time before HPI releases a competative belt car. We'll probably see more prototype in the future like we did before the Pro4 was ever released. If released...the belt car will definately be fast out of the box as with the pro4.

if you've never owned a Xray car... you'll be amazed by quality and workmanship that goes into each car. and you can pass it off as an HPI car by having all the silver parts colored to purple...
Since your in the Bay area...There's an anodizer in Newark that will do it...fairly inexpensively.....

Default HPI belt drive prototype

oh men HPI currently was tested the belt drive prototype. as it just release the breaking new from tq-racing they had tested belt drive. It might look similar to TRF415, but still a very early raw prototype. Although the concept may not differ too much, the actual production would not look like the prototype at all. i just having the Pro 4 half year only dunno they will discontinue the Pro 4 parts or not? if the belt drive came out soon i definately wait to get 1 kits instead of getting TRF 415 ms or TB evo4 ms

While Atsushi was running the standard Pro4 on the first day (15th), and Surikarn also run the Pro4 for the Stock class, the much anticipated HPI's prototype appeared on the track for the first time.

Naturally, no pictures were allowed. But it is a 2 belt design! It might look similar to TRF415, but please note that this is still a very early raw prototype. Although the concept may not differ too much, the actual production would not look like the prototype at all.
from the TQ Racing site following the thailand race.

It's hard to tell from the pic enlarged but the only thing I can see is there is no purple shaft unless it has a graphite shaft.

either way...belt or shaft....I'll still run the Pro4. On rubber tires it's an awesome car!

I looked at that TITC picture for a long time.
Tell you the truth, it just looks like a pro4 to me?
I would hope that they will stick to the shaft idea and work out the bugs on the pro4.
It wouldn't make any sense to start from scratch when the Pro4 is so great.
My ideas for the Pro5
-Aluminum Bulkeads with open diffs
(case covers as options)
-Slightly narrower chassis
(would have to move servo 90degrees to achieve)
-Top deck with only 4 screws to eliminate tweak
-Anything but Purple Anodizing!!!!
