I have also developed this same problem the last two weeks. But only in mod. Stock it's fine. I just got the 1.1 gears but havn't installed them yet. I'm also going to replace the gear box just in case.

And to keep this pro4 related, i seem to have a gear mesh problem with my back gear box

got the shims mounted like this
spur/bearing/1 shim/spacer in gearcase/2 shims/bearing/bevel gear

Whenever I launch or brake it crunches and the gears slip

Should I put all 3 shims in the back position? Only trouble with that is my thicker than standard spur gear then JUST touches the chassis plate

I have a set of the 1.1 gears in my tool box, If I fitted them would that fix the problem? Do the 1.1 gears need boiling?

Oh I didnt know there were shims you could move ar diff gear as well, only been adjusting the ones on the bevel/spur gear shaft (I didnt build my car and havent had the diffs apart myself yet - rebuilt about everything else though)

Have you got the chassis weights? I was going to get them but then found out for 11 you only get 20g weight ... what a major rip-off ... think I will be sticking to lead weights I can get for free from tyre balancing place

Default Alloy Front bevel gear

did anybody tried the square alloy bevel gear for the front one waY?? I believe that square came out with it when we have the problem of the bevel gear that flex... then came the prp & hpi backing plate to reduce the flex...

But, what you guys think of the alloy bevel gear???

I think the alloy gear would be a good fix to the gear breaking problem a touch heavy I would have thougt tho.
It would however probably just shift the stress somewhere else like the CVDs.

No I didn't buy them...or the bearing adaptors, I don't normally race with a minimum weight anyway, and like you, I'd just use lead weights, but the thing is, we've still got them in the shops here in the UK

IMO the alloy bevel gear will increase rotating mass by a lot and just make the smaller bevel gear strip easier but I can't say without trying it obviously.

With Mirage now distributing Hudy that will be more likely, I think they're doing a good job of getting bits out so far, although the price might be a bit steep...
