Its an air scoop to channel air to cool the motor. Ride makes one, or you can fashion one out of lexan left over after you cut your new shell.

More interestingly, does anyone notice the front and rear inner camber link mount screws on the upperdeck are sunk down??

It looks like it's maybe to make it where he does not remove as many screws to remove to top deck. who knows?

thanks for pointing that out...
looks like the 2 camber link locations was drilled out and used button head screws to secure the camber link mounts. I'll have to agree with the others about preventing tweak.

Yea, the fact its an air scoop seems kinda obvious now
Ive just never seen them, then again, I do live in the UK, Over heating isnt normally a problem
The sunk screws on the top deck are intersting, I agree they are to stop tweak, i guess they prevent the topdeck from moving out of place in a hard impact (I know what I mean )

I guess you need 3mm top deck to keep chassis stiffness after doing that mod.

that airscoop looks interesting...

I was waiting for my BMI chassis with my car all disassmbled.

So i did this with my old chassis plate...
I tested it with water on the non sloped side and the sloped side. It does suck water up!

Still trying to picture that........do you have a picture about that mod?
Talk about the camber link.........I've got a DNS last week because 1 of the Tamiya guy got a radio gllitch and sideway my car right before the start.........my car does look OK from the distance, then I realized that the car keep doing donut........and found out the radio glitch incident actually snapped the rear camber link ball stud at the gear box part (not the upright part)...it is SHEERED off...snapped level at the mounting area...

I found that weird to happen...and that is the first time I have a ball stud sheered off..........

rookie solora,
I've had my ballstud sheered off at the front but not at the back...

anyways,
the mod can be seen on that same picture

you know how there are 4 screws that mounts the upperdeck to the diff case?

The inner two screw holes (front and rear diffcase) are drilled out and he uses the buttonhead screws...
