Anybody tried the HPI finned motor mount yet? I like the looks of it and the potential for extra cooling. I also like that it will add some 'useful' weight to the electronics side of my chassis. Which I need, but would prefer not to just add 'dead' weight.

My only concern is that penalty of this mout will be losing the ease of motor removal. Without that opening on the side, like the stock mount, the motor will have to be pulled back a little to remove the shaft. With a GT7 and Xxtra, electronics space is tight on my car. So pulling the motor back could be tough.

Default motor mount

yeah they really should of thought about how people would get their motors out if they had bigger e.s.c.'s like the keyence or the gt7 because even with my new quantum and helios reciever the space is still limited i think i am going to stick with the stock one for a while. if you want extra cooling you could try adding a fan or the new heat sink with the fan attached from reedy fits the pro 4 perfect! (but I did have minor glitching issuses with it though)

Room on the chassis?? Their's plenty of room,I run a JR servo, airtronics super micro FM reciever and a LRP V7.1 speed controler..thats not what I would call small radio gear and it all fits, and yes I can get my motor out with no problems..

No its the one that came in the kit,The reason why I run a V7.1 is I know I wont have any problems with it over heating,Yes It's a large speed controler but I have in the past had a few problems with the micro size speed controlers,So I was quite happy when I found that I could run a larger speed controler.I dont know why some of you guy's think you dont have room,Try an old mr4tc..

I was running out side and my friend distracted me with his b4. I rammed the sidewalk full throttle.

The suspension arm did not break but the 2.5 front toe block bent out and the suspension arm popped out. Now i gotta find some of those pivot blocks.

I guess i have to buy some of those new derlin ones....

RCzombies, when are you gonna order those?

BTW, my front aluminum body posts are bad. Bent and scratched

I have the Keyence Zero Extreme w/Fut HRS reciever...still plenty of room. Waiting for my heatsink motor mount to arrive...once it's on.. I should still have about 1/2" of clearance to pull the motor back and out.

Speedtech has the new heatsink motormount in stock!!!

That happens too when you get distracted by the opposite sex.. ask Troy...

must of been a hard crash to bend those pivot blocks or even the aluminum body post...

on the delrin pivot balls... I have to wait til I have at least 3000yen order to R10. or else I'll get charge a min order fee.
I'll keep you posted... I have you down for a set.

The V7.1 and SR are the most reliable speedos available... I still have my SR for back-up. I've never had a single problem...the Quantum on the other hand is a different story.. won't be buying those anytime soon...

I fitted the heatsink motor mount a couple of days ago and raced last night, I didn't find it too hard to get the motor in and out, although I do mount my receiver on top of my servo so I have a lot of room for the speedo. It is a bit more akward than the stock mount but it does help keep the motor temperature down quite well, I'm waiting for my clip on heatsink which should hopefully be even better as it is in contact with most of the can.
