dont you like the idea of fuly sealed gearboxes?

Either way this will be a big step for HPI, which could make or break their electric presence...........i hope they do it well.

I'd rather have aluminum like the R2. To me fully sealed isn't that big a deal as I don't run the thing off road.

'coz the Pro4 is based on the R2 drivetrain... they both have the same final drive ratio. I'm sure aluminum gear box will be available soon after the car's released. possibly similar to the R2 or the aluminum diff cases made by Square for the Tamiya Evo3's.

Not trying to start an arguement, but weren't the gear cases a lot closer to the tc3? i know they used tc3 stuff in the beginning. That's why Hara was blowing up spools at that 1st no one way Reedy race. He was trying to lock up AE plastic diffs. At least, that was the story going around.

early prototypes had aluminum bulkheads diffs..similar to the R2..
the drivetrain and arms from the TC3 was also used... Using parts from other cars help reduce tooling cost of prototype parts. This leads to more testing and leading to final production parts.

There's a possibility that we may see it in action at the Clevelend indoor championships end of Nov.

Yes that's my point, but wasn't the drive train from a Tc3? Which is not a barracuda

original prototype was the TC3 drivetrain...then led to the R2 drivetrain.... the final version has the same drive-ratio as the R2..

All cars are basically an evolution of a basic design.

My opinion is that each new car addresses some of the problems with earlier ones so the Barracuda R2 is a beter car than the TC3, hopefully the Pro-4 will address some of the issues with the 'cuda and be better still.

I also think (hope) that HPI know they have to produce an amazing car if they want to win back some of the confidence that was lost as a result of the Pro-3. Again, a great concept but with a lot of problems especially early on. So I'm very optimistic about the Pro-4.

They are talking about Chris Tosilini and his Yokomo SD and Thad Garner racing a HPI Pro4! yikes....is he a HPI driver or is the kit already released somewhere in the states?

Thad Garner works for HPI in the US, the kit is not released anywhere yet, just team drivers dooing some last minute testing.
