popsracer-as an option-solder the Super Diode directly on your ESC and route it to a place under the driveshaft and then you never have to solder it onto another motor or forget to use it. Thats how I did mine. Pics many pages back.

rayhuang;

I had actually planned on mounting the Module to the top of the ESC, but the Cap wouldn't fit under the Drive Shaft.

Since I don't normally switch out Motors at the track (unless there's problems) everything worked out ok with the Module on the motor.

Thanks,
Steven (popsracer)

Default Pro 4 experiences at SWR

Been reading this forum since November and finally decided to post. Got my Pro4 in February and have raced it several times at SWR. Previous cars were Pro2=> LOSI-XXS => Barracuda R2 and now the Pro4.
Pro2 was my intro to RC racing. The Losi was, and still is, a great car. Easy to work on. Easy to drive. Lots of potential and best of all the chassis does not tweak. The Barracuda (the fish) was my intro to shaft drive. Got it because of the simple and elegant mechanical design. It's built like a tank. Never stripped a ring gear and I ran with an open diff. Susceptible to tweaking as ALL upper deck chassis are prone to do. Loved driving this car on carpet
Then I got the Pro4. Easy to drive. Quiet . Exceptionally quick acceleration. A bit more difficult to work on than the Losi. Carries speed thru corners better than the Losi. Prone to stripping ring gears when using a 1-way.
Here are some of my experiences and setups running 19T
- Tweak has never been a major problem
- Ran with 1-way and broke gears. Changed to diff ....no problems since and now I ncan dive deep into corners
- Started with stock setup running Sorex 28's or 36's with Xenon light grey inserts (x013) with the rear shocks in middle hole on arm, #2 piston w/45wt oil. Frt shock #3 piston, 50wt oil.
-Added the BRP TC3 bumper for extra protection.
- Added 42gm (1.5 oz) opposite batteries to balance car side to side
- No rear spaces on the wheel hubs. and 1mm each side in front. Narrower rear keeps the rear end tight.
Changes I've made in sequence
1. Moved rear shock in 1-hole on tower
2. Added 1mm (~1.5 degree) anti squat
3. Swapped frt and rear pivot blocks to give 2.5 degrees rear toe and 3.0 degrees frt arm sweep
4. Added 3mm spacer inside frt shocks
5. Added 0.5mm (0.75 degree) kick up to offset the extra sweep of frt arms and to compensate for a viscious bump coming onto the main straight

I also added the graphite main shaft and used the Titanium input shaft (saves 3gm vs. the steel). Acceleration is very quick.

So far I like the setup and the car is easy and very predicatble to drive, carries corner speed well, and the slight on-power push is history.
Will try this in race conditions this saturday and then experiment more.

Closing comments.
Every car has its quirks and how much you like it ,depends on how much time you want to put in to understand the mechanics and make it work to suit your driving style. Every car will break something when driving hard into an imovable object. Consider Newton's 2nd and 3rd laws of motion

Thanx everyone for the replies...i took my car apart, and found out one of the shocks was longer than the rest...i made sure they were all the same length...then followed the setup in the back of the manual and car tweaked out okay...my ride height is also normal now...

car drives straight and turns equally in both directions...thanx again!!!

If you haven't built the car yet it's far easier to do file the battery slots when the chassis doesn't have anything attached to it. A large, cheap file is about $3-6 at a swap meet or hardware store. You can use a Dremel also. I have a cheap set of small files in assorted shapes (round, half-round, flat, etc.) that was pretty cheap.

Erik - just trying to preach the good word! Sometimes it's quite a mountain to climb...

Folks, listen to Erik (most of you are, thankfully) - he designed the car, plus Thad doesn't have time to post and Hara never can, so this is as close as you can get to the proverbial "horse's mouth" (not that Erik's a horse..he can *drink* like one but that's a separate subject).

Default Carpet Setup

Other than a front diff... is there anything else that is needed to run on carpet out of the box(other than the obvious)?

Example, with an XRAY Factory Kit, you need a front diff, sway bars, lower shock tower, etc which is another $100 on top of the kit...

thanks
