Unfortunately, yes, my motor mount is scratched, but HPI's optional heat sink motor mount should fix that.

With the stock 98t spur gear...I'd start with a 34 -35.
I'm gearing the Monster at around 7 for a final drive ratio with a 98/34 combo... with the P2K2 you can go up a couple of teeths...

I run ~27 - 28 teeth with my binary motors, so I would bet with the torque of the P2k, that gearing would be a good starting point on a smaller track. To be safe, make sure you run a short practice session, see where the motor tops out at on the straight away, and see how it performs in the infield. Pull off a little short of 5min to check the temp ( to keep from frying it if you are overgeared. If it's fine, finish off the practice run, otherwise if it's to hot, re-gear!

hmm...

So anybody's Oneway slipping?

for me, just the right side...

I can tell because when i force the front right wheel to turn bcakwords, and hold the rear tires i can feel turn it... Not very fast but i can. I know it's not the rear diff slipping because i also have my finger on the spur to check if the main shaft is moving, which it's not...

troy...

thanks for the gear info...i would rather strip a plastic gear then lose a oneway bearing like in the tc3....the oneway is garbage after that.

did u oil the oneway out of the box? this is an important step, regular cleaning and re-oiling is also a worthy process.

if you don't oil oneways they will fail.

I use HPI/Serpent oneway lube or Tribo.

Why do you gear so low? Are you running a different spur? Are you running on a small track? I normally run on a medium to large track and I use a 33 tooth pinion. Even on a really small track, I use a 30 tooth pinion, foam tires starting at aroung 60mm or less. My car has a ton of speed!
