Nexus-
Rick at RSJ just got a bunch of stuff in today... I had a couple "pucker" moments the first day out and everything was cool. Just to be safe, I got some arms, outdrives, and a diff gear set. The aluminum mounts should be good, as well as the hingepins, etc. Like i said, though, the car seems tough. Not to mention great handling, and easy to build.

The new Pro4 pages look awesome. I know it was a group effort designing it but Erik deserves a pat on the back. HPI is very serious about making a car that is the best out there. I haven't even assembled mine yet but WOW everything has been thought of.
BTW- Any timeframe on the 2004 R40?

Just wondering what parts you have noticed are breaking during crashes...is it mostly arms, diff gears, hinge pins?

my tc3 really only breaks arms, bends pins, and once in the blue....a steering rack. the Pro4 looks like a great car i'm just concerned i won't have enough spares to run it. i see tamiya guys sitting out all the time when they are missing one little $5-$10 part.

Still debating which new car to run in the near future...thanks in advance for any tips.

The new Pro4 specific pages do look nice.
So far the only thing that broke was the diff bevel gears. I replaced the set after boiling them and I haven't had a problem since. Last week I went head on into a car that was on its roof. Everything seemed okay. I'm still impressed with the car. It's quite durable and hopefully parts (all) will be plentiful.

I'm really disappointed that Thad doesn't grace everyone in this thread with his presence more often....

Is it my imagination or does the Pro4 have a fair bit of bearing slop in the wheels?

I noticed it today and it doesnt seem very sweet on a pro car.

Car drives very smooth though

Syntex - start with Thad's asphalt car settings from the HPI USA pages. Make sure to use the tires and inserts that the fast guys are using, no use wasting time and money trying your own unique tire/insert setup.

I'm considering purchasing this car, but I have one question. I'm sure this has been asked and answered already, but I don't want to look for it in 75 pages of posts.

So my question is, I've noticed that the car comes with a front one-way. Is a front diff available, or can I buy the parts to build another rear diff and put it in the front? Will the rear diff fit in the front?

Front diff is available. I believe it is part number 75141.

Ball differentials are available for the Pro 4. The differential is the same for both the front and rear of the car.
