Default Hpi Pro 4

Guys;

Now that the car is in the hands of the masses. How is everyone finding the durability?

For those of you who have ran them both, how does the Pro-4 compare in durability to the P3?
Even with all of the graphite stuff, the P3 is pretty strong short of of corner board catch.

I really want to stay in the HPI camp, but durability issues may sway me more towards the ALEX camp.

Thanks,

Thanks for the input. SOunds lke the pro4 chassis maybe fine as is.

yea...forgot the name...Kydex... that's what I used before and very durable..... ABS is good for one crash...

Kingcrab has 3mm chassis with 3D cut-outs...but pricey. but for outdoor asphalt racing...the stock chassis is perfect... on the other hand...the Set-up sheet has a chassis selection of 2.0, 2.5, & 3.0mm.. so I assume HPI will be releasing different chassis in the future. I hope they don't follow YOK SD and come out with a TUB.

Thanks,
come on POPs...you know you want a Pro4... as you know I had the P3 as well... the Pro4 is alot more durable car. and Performance is awesome! Easier to set-up and faster out of the box than the P3... and not as hard on the wallet. everything you need is in the box.

I've had the Alex car... it's a great car as well... I found that the P4 handled better and faster in the corners.

Default Pro 4 Review

Pops,

I ran a P3 for a brief amount of time. I hated the fact that I was going to have to add lots of hopups to get it to a competitive level (in my mind). Out of the box the Pro 4 seems to not need anything else, so I think you'd be happy with the Pro4, as compared to the Pro 3. The Barracuda is a really nice car, but i'd stay with HPI if I were you.

FYI:

I'm in the process of doing my own review of the Pro4, which i should have in the next two weeks. (I'd have it sooner, but a guy gotta work ya know...)

Here's the facts. Anyone who owns a cuda is going to tell you it's the best car ever. Anyone who owns a pro 4 is going to tell you it's the best car ever. The way some of these people switch cars left and right, take any advice with a grain of salt.

That being said, buy what you like.

I was able to get a set made by Jet from RcModel for about $4.00 shipped. and it's good enough for most settings....and it's available in Purple...

Integy stuff is available thru your local hobby shop. But I digress, as my only reason to mention this stuff is that it seems HPi parts are sort of in short supply. I'm sure it will change soon, but i'm just throwin it out there.

Guys;

For the last few months, I've been reading the Pro-4 and Cuda threads trying to see how people feel. Both seem to be about equal performance wise. So durability and parts availability are my main concerns.

I do know that for me to be more competitive in Stock class, I'm going to need a shaft drive car. The Pro-4 will probably fill that gap. Just going to wait a few more weeks for the spare parts to arrive.

Rod_b;

I'm racing (Nitro) at Rev this Saturday evening, maybe see you
there.

As far as the cuda vrs. the Pro4,My pick is the Pro4,I own an R2 with alot of the hop ups(speedway pal,etc.)For me I thought the Pro 4 was a better car out of the box,I was a little over a lap faster with my Pro 4 than I was with my R2,what does this mean..really nothing.. For me it's just that the Pro 4 seems to fit my driving style and I have not yet found the right set up for the cuda for the track I race at..

did you ask Victor for set-up help for your R2 for SWR? Last fall I practice their one weekend with the R2 WEB...it was fast and cornered great after 1 hour of trying different set-ups..... the Pro4 is definately better out of the box than the R2. Can't wait to try it out at SWR...hopefully this Sunday...

I was thinking of getting a Pro 4 as my second car but after reading about the diff gears breaking I am not so sure. I sold my Evo III because of the same problem.
I do have a question about rear toe... if I read correctly the kit comes with 3 degree rear toe. That is way too much for foam racing... I run zero to 1/2 degree in stock. Is HPI selling rear toe bars to get to toe to this range?
